Buffalo State Data Governance Committee

Posted:

I am pleased to announce the establishment of the Buffalo State Data Governance Committee. This committee will provide leadership for the creation, implementation, and oversight of institution-wide information and data management standards and practices in support of the college’s strategic plan while eliminating barriers to the access and legitimate use of data.

The Data Governance Committee will serve to foster data governance and information management in the form of best-practice policies, guidelines, procedures, and standards for the institution. The committee will also take a leadership role in providing end-user training to help our community understand information management language and security principles while developing skills to support their roles and maximize the value and impact of available information.

Judi Basinski, associate vice president for computing and technology services, will serve as chair of the committee. Other members of the committee are Erin Alonzo, associate vice president for enrollment management; William Benfanti, associate vice president for government relations; Yves Gachette, director of institutional research; Karen O’Quin, associate dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences; and Jill Powell, senior assistant to the vice president for finance and management. David Demers, chief information officer, will serve as executive sponsor for this committee.

Data governance encompasses the people, processes, and information technology required to create consistent and proper handling of data and understanding of information across the institution. The vision of the institutional Data Governance Committee is to treat information as a managed, enterprise-wide asset that is readily available to support evidence-based decision making and inform activities of functional offices.

Survey on Copy and Print Needs

Posted:

In an effort to improve overall print efficiency and enhance services available to faculty, staff, and students through the central Buffalo State Copy Center in Cleveland Hall, we are interested in receiving your input to understand your current and future production copy and print needs, both color and black and white.

To facilitate the collection of feedback, we have developed an electronic survey to help us better understand current and future production copy and print requirements. The survey should take no more than 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be completely anonymous.

The survey is available online. We ask that you complete the survey by Monday, April 18. Thank you.
