Nominations are now being accepted for the Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity. For 25 years, Dr. Phillip Santa Maria served as dean of students at Buffalo State. During his tenure, he was recognized both on campus and throughout the community for his leadership on a variety of diversity and social justice issues. The Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity has been established in his honor and is given annually to recognize students who exemplify his commitment to service, social justice, and diversity.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate student leaders who exemplify Dr. Santa Maria’s commitment to service, social justice, and diversity through promoting respect for diversity and individual differences in their activities, projects, discussions, or leadership with student organizations and groups for this purpose.

Adobe Creative Cloud Software Licensing

Posted:

SUNY has reached an agreement with Adobe for Creative Cloud software licensing. Buffalo State is participating in this SUNY agreement, which leverages the power of SUNY as a whole. Under this agreement, Buffalo State campus labs will be licensed for Creative Cloud software, providing access to the entire suite of Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, etc.) for all students. A portion of faculty and staff workstations will also have access to the Creative Cloud suite. It is important to note that while campus faculty, staff, and students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software, the contract does not include individual subscriptions to Cloud storage. As a result, all working files must be stored on Buffalo State network folders, hard drives, or other storage media.

Information Services and Systems staff members are in the preliminary stages of planning for the rollout of Adobe Creative Cloud software. Testing is in progress, and CTS has assembled a group of faculty and staff members who will provide feedback. The planning team will begin to reach out to departments across campus over the coming weeks to verify existing CS6 installations and users, and to discuss timing and process. We expect a rollout for campus labs before the start of the fall 2016 term and will make the software available to faculty beforehand for their own testing and planning.

Faculty and staff members may purchase a yearly subscription to the software for home use at a substantially discounted rate of $9.75 a year. The software is available now through Buffalo State's Academic Software Center.

If you have questions, please contact the Computing Help Desk at 878-4357. We hope you will enjoy expanded availability of this set of software tools.

  • Online Asynchronous- All course activity completed online; no required on-site sessions.
  • Online Synchronous - All course activity completed online; requires some or all scheduled interactive online sessions in which direct instruction occurs in real time, without time delay.
