Student Move-In Days: Parking and Traffic Notice

Posted:

Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—August 20, 23, 24, 25, and 26—will be move-in days for resident students. To facilitate the move for our 2,500 residents and their families, temporary changes to campus parking and traffic will be made as follows:

Parking
Some parking areas near residence halls will be reserved for move-in activity and will not be available for faculty, staff, or students. The following lots will be used for move-in activity:

Monday, August 20:

  • Lots A and A-1 (Rockwell Road, north and south sides) from Cleveland Circle Drive west to Academic Drive

  • Lot D (Academic Drive)* except parking spaces designated for people with disabilities

  • Lot D-1 (Union Place)*

*Please note that numbered reserve and general reserve parking spaces in lots D and D-1 are included in those parking spaces that will be unavailable for usual staff parking. On Monday, August 20, these reserve-space holders are asked to park in other campus parking lots to accommodate our students.

Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 20, 23, 24, 25, and 26:

  • Lot S-1: Vehicles will enter and exit this lot in order to expedite traffic control during the move-in process. The west row of parking, adjacent to the Science Building, will be affected.

Traffic
On Friday, August 24, vehicles used for move-in activity will be directed to exit the inner campus by driving through the Student Union Quad south of Bulger Communication Center between E. H. Butler Library and Caudell Hall. Vehicular traffic through the Quad has been authorized for this particular event.

University Police officers, University Police student assistants, and Residence Life staff members will be available to direct students and their families. Thank you for your cooperation as we welcome our new and returning resident students.

Designated courses also appear on student transcripts.

Details and information to request service-learning designation for your courses that meet the College Senate–approved criteria are available on the VSLC website. The deadline for requesting spring 2013 designation is Wednesday, September 12.
