You are invited to join Buffalo State and the Asarese-Matters Recreation Center to celebrate the life and teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of service. Volunteers will lead small groups of local youth to create an arts-based service project and make lunch.

A reminder to the campus community that nominations with supporting materials for President's Awards for Excellence are due to the provost on Monday, March 7. Award guidelines are available on the Academic Affairs website. Questions may be directed to Carolyn Martino at ext. 5903.

Weight Watchers on campus is moving forward. A corporate discounted rate of $186 is available for the 17-week program, which includes E-TOOLS for 19 weeks at no extra charge. There is no registration fee as long as there are more than 20 members joining.

Meetings will be held Thursdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Houston Gym 206.

Payment can be made at the first meeting on January 20 by the following methods:

-Any major credit card for $186
-Check made out to Weight Watchers for $186
-Three checks made out for $62 each and all submitted and dated for same start date (no post-dated checks please), but our leader will deposit on weeks one, five, and 10 of the session.

Join the Burchfield Penney for happy hour this Friday, January 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with music by the Outlyers (featuring Buffalo State's own Dave Meinzer and John Brady), followed by a performance by the Buffalo Soundpainting Ensemble (part of "Beyond/In WNY 2010") at 8:00 p.m.

A new event held last September, the Distinguished Donor Society Dinner, combined the annual recognition ceremonies of the college’s top supporters—the President’s Circle and the Peterson Society—into a single event. The President’s Circle honors donors who made annual gifts of $1,500 or more to the college in 2009–2010. The Peterson Society is the college’s honor society for those who have made a gift to Buffalo State in their wills or through other estate-planning techniques. The dinner was held at the Buffalo Club.

Faculty and staff, please dispose of all Withdrawal from Course forms after January 21 (the end of intersemester). All Withdrawal from Course activity for spring 2011 will be done by the student via Banner self-service.

Windows 7 and Office 2010 for the PC and Office 2011 for the Mac are coming to campus soon. Are you ready? A demonstration will be offered twice next week to give users a preview and instructions on how to prepare for the new systems.
