Student Employee of the Year: Deadline Is in One Week

Posted:

Thank you to those who have submitted nominations! Student workers are often overlooked for the Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) award because their supervisors are so busy working there is little time to nominate our outstanding workers! For this reason, we have made the nomination easy to complete at www.buffalostate.edu/offices/cdc. Look for the nominations box on the right.

The SEOTY award recognizes the hard work, dedication, and accomplishment of students who work while attending college. Partner with us to acknowledge the unique contribution of our student employees.

The recipients, nominees, and nominators will be honored at the Student Employment Awards reception. The SEOTY will also receive a monetary award, attend a luncheon honoring recipients from colleges and universities in the Western New York area, and become eligible for state and regional awards.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and consideration in identifying our exceptional student employees.

Credentialed Translators Needed

Posted:

The College and Community Partnerships Office and the Center for Health and Wellness are coordinating the West Side Youth Violence Prevention Task Force (WSYVPTF). The task force was formed in 2009 to address the problem of younger children becoming involved in gangs and includes a diverse group of stakeholders utilizing an evidenced-based environmental prevention strategy to address the issue.

Buffalo Public School 18 was selected for conducting a demonstration project. There are approximately 20 different languages spoken there and few students have English as their primary language. It is vital that materials be translated into the predominant languages. We are looking for Buffalo State faculty or staff, credentialed as translators, who are interested in helping to translate materials for the task force. Please contact the Partnership Office at  ext. 5444/4132 for a list of languages and for more information.
