Jozef Bajus Leads Art Workshops at the Burchfield Penney

Posted:

Buffalo State's Jozef Bajus, associate professor, Design Department, is leading two art workshops at the Burchfield Penney this spring: one for kids and one for kids at heart.

Saturday, May 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Class: Zig-zags Entwined: Playful Paper Sculptures
$32 for members, $48 for not yet members
Children will paint, fold, cut, staple, collage, and weave an array of paper products to form eye-catching, three-dimensional sculptures. Twisting, threading, lacing, splicing—the possibilities are endless—and the techniques learned from Bajus can easily be continued at home with the overabundance of paper that awaits children in their household recycling bins. Bring your own lunch.

Saturday, June 4, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Fluctuations of Form and Precision in Paper (Adults and Teens)
$32 members; $48 for not yet members.
In this class, participants will be entangled in the medium of paper sculpture, first learning the details of basic paper weaving, then further exploring the intricacies of more complex techniques. Meandering strips of paper will be juxtaposed in fluctuating forms and placed in precise patterns, making the process itself, as esthetically enticing as the paper sculptures that result. All skill levels are welcomed.

For info or to register, call Katie at ext. 3216 or e-mail kellymc@buffalostate.edu.
