Records Disposition: Documentation From All Offices Due By July 15

Posted:

Campuses of the State University of New York adhere to two schedules for records retention and disposition—a SUNY schedule for education records and a general schedule for state government records—to ensure that records are retained appropriately and, once their retention periods have lapsed, disposed of routinely.

Please visit www.buffalostate.edu/recordspolicy for links to the schedules, the accompanying SUNY policy, and for information on how to comply.

By July 15, 2011, using the certificate of records destruction form (DOCX), all campus offices and departments should document their records destruction activities during the 2010–11 academic year and forward the completed certificate to the campus records management officer, Cleveland Hall 508, or via e-mail to powellja@buffalostate.edu.

For more information about using the records retention schedules and following the SUNY policy, please contact Jill Powell. Thank you.

Exhibit in Honor of W. M. Drzewieniecki

Posted:

W. M. Drzewieniecki was born in Poland in 1914. Having attended cadet school, Drzewieniecki took part in the early battles of World War II as an officer of the Polish Army, then, in the Polish underground. When Poland was attacked by Soviet Russia, he made his escape through Romania, eventually fighting under Polish command alongside the Allies.

When the war ended Drzewieniecki emigrated to the United States, earned his doctorate in history, and became a professor at Buffalo State College. Here he taught Central European History and founded the East European and Slavic studies program. He also founded the Fronczak Room which is an archive for local Polish American history. Professor Drzewieniecki was a leader of Polish Americans in Buffalo and beyond. Drzewieniecki established the Polish Cultural Foundation and set up the Fronczak Room fund. The exhibit in the lobbies of E. H. Butler Library is on through the end of May.
