International Scholars to Speak at Seventh Annual Conference for Peace

Guest scholars, community leaders, college faculty, and students will provide a series of presentations on Diversity and Peace: Integrating Inquiry and Action, the theme of the 2008 Buffalo State College Conference for Peace, on Thursday, October 23, in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall. Members of the campus and the community are invited to attend all or part of the conference, which is organized each year by founder Jean Gounard, director of International Student Affairs.

Dietetics and Nutrition Department's Annual Chili Sale

The Dietetics and Nutrition Department's annual chili sale will be held on Tuesday, October 21, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. outside of Caudell Hall 118. Meat and vegetarian chili will be served. Cost is $5 for 12 oz. chili, bread, an apple, and bottled water. All proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels.

Kissinger Pool to Host Pink Out Today

The Monsignor Martin League is hosting an all-girls high school swim meet and will be selling pink T-shirts, ribbons, and beanie babies to raise money and awareness for breast cancer today in Kissinger Pool. The meet will run from 4:45 p.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m. Wear pink and help "Pink the Pool."

Service-Learning Conference Keynote Remarks

The Service-Learning Conference Planning Committee would like to invite members of the campus to the conference keynote remarks on Friday October 24,  from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Rockwell Hall. Keynote speaker Edward Zlotkowski, a renowned expert in the field of service-learning, is a professor of English at Bentley College who founded the Bentley Service-Learning Center, an institution-wide program that has involved all of the college’s undergraduate academic departments, more than a quarter of its full-time faculty, and several thousand students in 1990.

Seventh Annual Flag-Raising Ceremony for Peace Conference

The campus community and the community at large are warmly invited to attend the seventh annual Flag-Raising Honors Ceremony on Monday, October 20, starting at noon in the Campbell Student Union Quad. This very special ceremony, involving individuals from campus and the larger community, will emphasize peace endeavors in the Niagara Region as well as introduce the seventh annual Peace Conference that will be held all day in Rockwell Hall on Thursday, October 23. The flags of the United Nations, the United States, and New York State will fly side by side during the entire week.
