Buffalo State Web: Ingeniux and WWW1 Server Shutdown

Posted:

This is a reminder that the Ingeniux server (www1) will shut down effective December 30, 2014. At that time, Ingeniux sites will no longer be accessible. If you have an existing Ingeniux site that needs to be migrated over to Drupal, please contact Melissa Meehan, director of web administration, to request a Drupal shell site and sign up for Drupal training. The next Drupal training session will be held Monday, December 22, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Migration Exceptions
The following sites should not be migrated into Drupal:

  • Very low traffic sites or sites that were established for short-run, event-specific purposes, and completed initiatives
  • Sites that are not actively updated

Launching Your New Drupal Site
High-profile Drupal replacement sites should be in place by December 30, in order to provide continuity of service to visitors. Also, it’s important to note that your old Ingeniux site will not be viewable once the server is taken offline, so please ensure that any important documents, content, and files are captured from legacy sites and saved locally in advance of the December 30 cutoff.

Drupal sites may be developed and worked on after December 30.

If you have any questions or are ready to launch your new Drupal site or migrate an Ingeniux site, please contact Melissa Meehan.

Economic Update at the Burchfield: 'Where the Jobs Are and Aren't' - December 11

Posted:

Please join Fred Floss, professor of economics and finance at Buffalo State and executive director of the Fiscal Policy Institute; John Slenker of the New York State Department of Labor; and Howard Zemsky, chair of the Buffalo State College Council and co-chair of the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council, for "Economic Recovery 2014 in New York State: Where the Jobs Are and Aren't" on Thursday, December 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

This presentation and discussion will review new research about what's working, what's not, and where Upstate New York's challenges remain. How has the economic recovery worked in New York State? Overall, New York has been on an upswing, but a closer analysis reveals that the recovery has been uneven.

The event will be hosted and introduced by Bruce Fisher, visiting professor and director of the Buffalo State Center for Economic and Policy Studies; the media co-sponsor is the Public.

Grading Reminder: Last Date of Attendance

Posted:

When issuing a student a non-passing grade, i.e., an E, F, U, I, or N, you must also report the student's last date of attendance when entering the grade online. This helps the Financial Aid Office determine whether a student unofficially withdrew and whether the student is able to retain the aid he or she received.

The last date of attendance is the last date the student sat in class, took an exam, handed in homework, or actively participated in an online course. If you are assigning an I or N grade, the last date of attendance is the last date you met with the student to discuss progress in the course. If you have no record of the student attending, do not enter a date. Instead use the grade EV, which indicates that the student never attended the course.

Questions regarding this policy or procedure should be referred to the Financial Aid Office, ext. 4902.
