Styrofoam Recycling: How Much Is Generated Campuswide?

Posted:

Campus Services is hoping to expand the campus recycling program to include Styrofoam. To pursue this, we need more information from the campus community. Do some departments generate a large amount of Styrofoam? Is it at a particular time of the year? Please e-mail this information to Lauren Bostaph.

Once the amount of Styrofoam is determined, decisions can be made as to what can be done with it, how, and when. Thank you for your help with this.

New Option for Office Supply Purchases

Posted:

Procurement Services is happy to announce a new option for the campus community to place orders for office supplies with Office Max or Staples, thanks to the diligent and concerted efforts of key people from SUNY and Office Max. This agreement will have a positive effect in the following ways:

  • It will provide a wider variety of products from which to choose.
  • It will give us the ability to shop between vendors to find the best prices and save money.
  • Ordering supplies from Office Max will save 10 percent on average compared with purchases made off the current state contract.
  • It will boost our MWBE utilization rate, per Governor Cuomo’s directive.

As of now, Office Max orders will continue to be placed online by the ordering department. Details regarding the new ordering process for Office Max will be sent to registered Office Max users. Staples orders will continue to be placed by submitting a Request for Purchase Order to Procurement Services for processing. Orders for Office Max and Staples will be processed and approved in the order received.

For further information, please contact Penny Reusch, ext. 4020.

Notes for Travelers to Ebola-Affected West African Countries

Posted:

If you travel to Guinea, Liberia, or Sierra Leone, you will likely be subject to quarantine restrictions by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and local health department for up to 21 days upon your return to the United States. The situation in Mali is still changing and may also result in similar restrictions.

Air travel from these countries is restricted. Generally you will be required to land at one of five selected U.S. airports. At the airport, you will be screened by the CDC and/or the NYSDOH for your health status and your activities during travel. CDC/NYSDOH may impose restrictions on your movement or activities (e.g., quarantine at home or at a controlled location, self-monitoring for symptoms or monitoring under close observation of a health department official, prohibition from certain modes of public transportation, etc). If you are returning to a New York State location, your restrictions will be enforced by the local health department.

For more information on travel restrictions, please see the CDC and the New York State Department of Health (PDF) websites.
