Update Your Records with Human Resources Self-Service Module

Posted:

With the launch of SUNY System Administration’s Human Resources Self-Service Module in spring 2015, employees are able to view their legal name, demographics, and education information and update their home addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts in the SUNY HR system.

Employees are encouraged to review their records annually to ensure that all information is accurate and up to date. If a change is necessary, it may be requested via the Self-Service Module. A user guide (PDF) is available to assist employees in accessing and using the Self-Service Module. Home address and legal name changes may also be requested by completing the paper form available on the website.

Non-state employees must use the paper or online Directory Add/Update Form.

Please contact Human Resource Management by phone at 878-4822 or by e-mail at kawalel@buffalostate.edu with questions.

Invitation to Meet with the Students of Concern Care Team

Posted:

Members of the Students of Concern Care Team are available to attend meetings or gatherings of faculty and staff members to provide information and share strategies and techniques for working with students of concern on campus. Upon request, we will attend chairs' meetings, departmental meetings, office gatherings, or other group meetings.

The Care Team seeks to identify and provide support for students in distress who may threaten harm to themselves or others. Your help in providing notice of any students of concern is essential to keeping our campus community safe. Notify the Care Team whenever a student’s behavior gives reason for uncertainty about possible harm so that we can investigate the situation, develop a plan for action, and follow up with appropriate intervention.

To contact the Care Team, please complete an online reporte-mail the team, or call the Dean of Students Office at 878-4618.

Questions about the operation of the team should be addressed to Charles B. Kenyon, associate vice president and dean of students, 878-4618.

If you wish to invite members of the team to meet with your department or office to discuss “red flag” warning signs, ways to report a concern, legal or FERPA issues, or how to respond when confronted by a student in distress, please contact Amy Rosen-Brand, associate director of disability services, 878-4500.

Air Pollution: Past, Present, and Future: October 20

Posted:

Alan Lockwood, professor emeritus of neurology at the University at Buffalo and a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility, will present "Air Pollution: Past, Present, and Future" on Tuesday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m. in Classroom Building A209. He will frame his presentation around the provisions of the Clean Air Act, which has virtually eliminated lead and made steep inroads with regard to other criteria pollutants: oxides of nitrogen and sulfur, particulates, and ozone. Climate change has important implications for the future of air pollution, particularly with regard to ozone. This presentation is part of the WNY Chapter of the American Meteorological Society’s fall 2015 seminar series, hosted by the Buffalo State Geography and Planning Department's meteorology and climatology program.
