Request for Proposals: Grant Allocation Committee

The Grant Allocation Committee (GAC) requests proposals from individuals, departments, and student clubs and organizations for funding of programs, speakers, and events to take place during the 2016–2017 academic year.

The deadlines for submitting applications under this funding cycle are Friday, September 16, for fall 2016 and spring 2017 program proposals; and Friday, November 18, for spring 2017 program proposals. Applications for funding and complete details of requirements may be found on the Student Affairs website. In an effort to cut costs and in keeping with our efforts to go green, all proposals must be submitted electronically to marzolkl@buffalostate.edu with one hard copy delivered to Cleveland Hall 519.

Tell Students: Albright-Knox Student Semester Passes on Sale Now

Semester-long passes to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery for Buffalo State students are on sale now at the Rockwell Hall Box Office. The pass allows for unlimited visits to the gallery for the entire semester for only $10. The Rockwell Hall Box Office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EOP Receives Summer Food Service Grant

The Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program at Buffalo State has again received the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) grant for the class of 2020. Jude Jayatilleke, senior academic adviser, with assistance from Carol Darstein, director of pre-award and contract services in the Sponsored Programs Office, applied for and secured the grant (formerly known as the USDA Grant), sponsored by the State Education Department for up to $45,000. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved!

SFSP is a federally funded state-administered program that reimburses providers who serve healthful meals to children and teens ages 18 and under in low-income areas at no charge primarily during the summer months when school is not in session.

Bacon Hall Stairway Repair

Posted:

The interior stairway on the east end of Bacon Hall between the second and third floors will undergo repairs for approximately one week starting today, August 11. The stairs will remain available for emergency use only during that time. Building occupants are asked to use the elevator or the west-end stairway to travel between floors while repairs are being conducted. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

AFP 2016: Engage. Lead. Improve the World is the Anne Frank Project's eighth annual social justice festival, held this year on September 28 and 29 in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall and Upton Hall galleries. AFP 2016 is free and open to students, faculty, staff, and the community.

  • Performances and discussions from local, national, and international guests
  • Stories told by three survivors from separate conflicts

Survive and Thrive: Essentials for Starting Your Own Business - August 23

The Small Business Development Center presents “Survive and Thrive: Essentials for Starting Your Own Business,” a workshop covering all the essential information needed to start a business, on Tuesday, August 23, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Burchfield Penney Art Center (second floor). Specific topics will include creating a business plan; competition analysis; and tax, legal, and insurance issues. The workshop is free for Buffalo State College faculty, staff, students, and alumni and U.S. military veterans and $20 for all others.

Registration will take place immediately before the workshop, from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. To register in advance, please call the SBDC at 878-4030.

Additional minor enhancements have also been added. Changes will take effect Wednesday, August 10. Campuswide Inventory of Room Attributes

As part of an effort to update our space inventory and event scheduling data, employees from RITE, Events Management, and Facilities Planning will perform a room-by-room inventory of physical space attributes. This review will take place during the week of August 8. We ask for your assistance in accommodating our need to access rooms in your area. We will make every effort to ensure minimal disruption to instruction or office activity during these brief visits. 

The information collected through this assessment will be used to update our space inventory records and ensure that information about campus facilities is current and accurate.
