Celebration of Life Memorial Service: April 27

Posted:

This year’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, April 27, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Assembly Hall. Please join us.

For the past 16 years, Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff have come together to celebrate the lives and memories of those who have passed away during the last year. This event is a meaningful tradition at Buffalo State that provides a forum to remember those members of our Buffalo State community who are no longer with us. This nondenominational, spiritual celebration honors their lives through music, poetry, readings, and the lighting of candles. The name of each deceased individual will be read aloud, followed by the ringing of our memorial bell.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service is coordinated by the Counseling Center and supported by numerous campus departments. If you are aware of someone who has died since April 1 of last year, and if you would like to add his or her name to the list of remembrances, please e-mail Mary Durlak, senior writer in the College Relations Office, with the relevant information. We can accept names through Friday, March 31. Thank you.

Gowns for Prom: Prom Dress Drive

The Fashion and Textile Technology (FTT) Department will host the Erie 1 BOCES fashion show on Thursday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. In conjunction with this event, the department is holding a prom dress drive on behalf of the Gowns for Prom effort, led by Colvin Cleaners and held at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Gowns for Prom helps area high school girls who cannot otherwise afford a prom dress. Last year, over 1,000 gowns were given away at this annual event, now in its 12th year.

We will collect gowns on behalf of Erie 1 BOCES and the Gowns for Prom event. Shoes and accessories are also appreciated. Please bring donations to the FTT department on the third floor of the Technology Building before noon Thursday, March 16.
