Commencement Regalia Orders Due Today

Commencement is a few short weeks away, and rental orders for academic regalia for marchers are due today, April 14, for guaranteed hood colors and standard shipping charges. Please visit the Commencement website to register to march in Commencement and for regalia order instructions. Your participation as a faculty or staff marcher is appreciated, and your coordinated efforts to ensure that all departments are represented at the appropriate ceremonies, with graduate faculty also marching in the Master’s Hooding and C.A.S. Ceremony, demonstrates your commitment and pride in Buffalo State.

9:00 a.m. Baccalaureate Ceremony: School of Education, School of the Professions, University College
1:00 p.m. Baccalaureate Ceremony: School of Arts and Humanities, School of Natural and Social Sciences
5:00 p.m. Master’s Hooding and C.A.S. Ceremony: Graduate School

Alternatively, volunteer ushers may register to assist with Commencement by registering online. Ushers do not wear academic regalia, and your assistance with greeting guests, assisting with the graduate lineup, and distributing booklets is also greatly needed and deeply appreciated.

'Voices from World War I': April 25

Veronica Hogle of the Buffalo-Lille Association Inc. will present "Voices from World War I" on Tuesday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Butler Library 210. Her talk marks the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the United States' entry into the First World War, on April 6, 1917.

Center for China Studies Spring 2017 Seminar: April 18

The campus community is invited to the Center for China Studies spring 2017 seminar on Tuesday, April 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Classroom Building B119. Visiting scholars Tang Yong from Hunan City University and Wen Yan from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology will present "The Rising China: A Brief Introduction of Its Education and Culture" and "Biological Differences between Men and Women: A Chinese Perspective."

Buffalo Niagara Ambassador Awards: April 19

The Buffalo State College Hospitality and Tourism Department presents the 23rd annual Buffalo Niagara Ambassador Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium. Please join us for an evening of celebration and recognition of the Buffalo Niagara Hospitality Ambassadors, the undergraduate hospitality student scholarship winners,
and the Class of 2017.

Ambassador Award Recipients
Steve Eden, Director of Delaware North's Culinary and Hospitality Council
Dave Schutte, Restaurateur and Owner of the Creekside, Oliver’s, and Sear Restaurants
Shetice Williams, Entrepreneur and Owner of Cake Crazy Bakery and Gourmet Catering

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Statler Foundation Room in Caudell Hall. Tickets are $20 per person; please make checks payable to BSCF Hospitality Catering. RSVP to 878-5913 or to Deborah Daniels, secretary 1 in the Hospitality and Tourism Department.

Special note to off-campus guests: parking meters are available in visitor lots G-25, I-30, R-3, and R-4 (campus map, PDF, 3 MB). Parking rules are strictly enforced from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are one of our special visitors from off campus, please request a free temporary parking permit for use in student lots when you make your reservation for the event.
