Law School Fair: September 25

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to join the Career Development Center for the annual Greater Western New York Law School Fair on Monday, September 25, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara. This free event is a great opportunity for those interested in attending law school to meet with admissions recruiters from more than 75 programs across the country. Tell Students: Graduate School Fair 2017

The Career Development Center will host more than 65 graduate schools and programs at its annual Graduate School Fair on Thursday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. All students and alumni are encouraged to attend this free event. This is a great way to learn more about a variety of programs and the admission process, as well as make face-to-face connections with recruiters.

Information Security Awareness: Equifax Data Breach

If you watch television news, listen to the radio, or receive feeds on your phone, you have likely heard that Equifax, a credit reporting company, suffered a data breach in July-August. Exposed were individual names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and in some cases, driver's license numbers, according to the company's news release. Recognition Ceremony Awards Information Due Today

Today is the deadline for faculty and staff members to submit information about their awards and grants for the Faculty and Staff Recognition Ceremony. Categories are significant awards and honors (state, national, international), significant grants ($50,000 or more), and previous SUNY awards while working at other SUNY institutions. Specific criteria and online submission forms are provided on the Faculty and Staff Recognition Ceremony web page.

The ceremony takes place on Thursday, October 5, at 12:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall and will honor this year’s recipients of the SUNY Chancellor’s Awards and President’s Awards for Excellence. The campus community is invited to attend the ceremony and reception that immediately follows.

E-learning Courses Available to UUP Employees

The Empire Knowledge Bank (EKB) eLearning Program allows UUP-represented employees to access e-learning products provided by Enterprise Training Solutions Inc. through the EKB license. Employees can access thousands of e-learning courses, e-books, and short course videos for opportunities to enhance their professional and career development, certification preparation, and continuing education in a variety of areas. The EKB license can be accessed anytime and anywhere with an Internet connection and is provided at no expense to the campus or the employee.

Communication and time-management online training courses may be particularly useful at this busy time of year. Offerings include Analyzing Your Use of Time; Planning and Prioritizing Your Time; Communicating Assertively; Communicating with Confidence; Written Communication; Culture and Its Effect on Communication; Communicating across Cultures; Improving Communication in Cross-Cultural Relationships; Communication Skills; and Conflict, Stress, and Time Management.

This program is offered through the NYS/UUP Joint Labor-Management Committees.
