Stop by to watch Chartwells Dining host its first Teaching Kitchen on Tuesday, February 13, in the Bengal Kitchen. Two sessions will take place, at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. The sessions are full, but keep an eye out for the next Teaching Kitchen announcement.

Tell Students: Chartwells Teaching Kitchen - February 13

Chartwells Dining will host its first teaching kitchen, focusing on basic knife skills and a basic vinaigrette, on Tuesday, February 13, in the Bengal Kitchen. Two sessions will be held, at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Please tell students to register in the Bengal Kitchen. Classes are limited to 15 participants per session. This will book up fast.

In Memoriam: Kathleen A. Crehan

The Buffalo State community is saddened by the death of Kathleen A. Crehan, secretary 1 in Economics and Finance since 1989 and a member of the campus community since 1966, who died December 16, 2017. The Economics and Finance Department will offer a memorial Mass for her at the Buffalo State Newman Center, 1219 Elmwood Avenue, on Thursday, February 15, at 12:30 p.m. A light reception will be held in Classroom Building B221 following the service. Everyone is welcome.

The first College Senate meeting of the spring 2018 semester will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, in Butler Library 210. Senate meetings are recorded and posted as podcasts on the College Senate website. Please visit the website to catch up on past Senate news, listen to podcasts of past meetings, or review meeting summaries. The schedule (PDF, 46 KB) of all upcoming College Senate meeting dates is also posted.

The College Senate Office is located in Cleveland Hall 211. Howard Reid, professor of psychology, is chair of the College Senate for the 2017–2018 academic year. Please stop by the office, call 878-5139, or e-mail Vincent Masci, assistant to the College Senate, with questions or for general information.

Tell Students: Drop-In Stress Management Group - Mondays

The Counseling Center is pleased to offer a drop-in stress management group on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. starting February 19 and running through April 30. The stress management group is an experiential approach to stress management. Students learn different techniques to reduce and control their stress, including guided meditation, mindfulness practices, progressive muscle relaxation, and more. For more information, please call the Counseling Center at 878-4436.

Internal Search: Assistant Director of Honors Programs

The Honors Program is seeking a full-time faculty member to fill a one-year position (June 1, 2018–May 31, 2019) as assistant director of honors programs. The assistant director will be expected to develop and implement student engagement and programming for the Honors Programs, help administer the Dean’s Honors Program, teach in the Honors Program, assist with summer orientation for incoming honors students, and assist in a fall 2018 semester seminar for incoming Dean’s Honors students. This person will serve on the Honors Advisory Board, attend regular honors faculty meetings, and have an active role in building the future Honors College. The position will come with a course release each semester and a summer stipend.? Please submit by e-mail a letter of interest specifically addressing your interest in Honors and ability to fulfill the expected duties to Dr. Amy McMillan, Interim Director of Honors Programs, by 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 16.
