February 7 Paycheck Information

Posted:

As of result of recent federal tax legislation, employees may see automatic changes in the amount withheld from their paychecks for federal income taxes. For many employees, this change will result in higher biweekly net pay. Employees may view the amount to be withheld in the February 7 check (and compare to January 24 check) by accessing the “View Paycheck” option in NYS Payroll Online (PDF, 339 KB).

Invitation to Meet with the Students of Concern Care Team

Posted:

Members of the Students of Concern Care Team are available to attend meetings or gatherings of faculty and staff members to provide information and share strategies and techniques for working with students of concern on campus. Upon request, we will attend chairs' meetings, departmental meetings, office gatherings, or other group meetings.

Tell Students: The Students of Concern Care Team seeks to identify and provide support for students in distress who may threaten harm to themselves or others. Your help in providing notice of any students of concern is essential to keeping our campus community safe. Notify the Care Team whenever a student's behavior gives reason for uncertainty about possible harm so that we can assess the situation, develop a plan of reaction, and follow up with appropriate intervention.

To contact the Care Team, please complete an online report, e-mail the chair, or call the Dean of Students Office at 878-4618.

Questions about the operation of the team should be addressed to Sarah M. Young, dean of students, 878-4618.

If you wish to invite members of the team to meet with your department or office to discuss "red flag" warning signs, ways to report a concern, legal or FERPA issues, or how to respond when confronted by a student in distress, please contact the Dean of Students Office.

Thank You for Your T-Shirt Donations

Posted:

The Civic and Community Engagement Office had a tremendous response to its call for T-shirt donations. Thank you to everyone who took the time to sort through their clothing and bring in shirts. The shirts were used for an Orientation project in partnership with the Matt Urban Hope Center. Students learned about Matt Urban's mission and programs from one of its staff members and then created reusable bags from the shirts. The bags will be used in the center's food pantry and will reduce waste and costs. It was a simple project that introduced students to Buffalo State's urban-engagement mission, a mission they will revisit numerous times in increasing depth throughout their Buffalo State careers.

As the Science and Mathematics Complex (SAMC) Phase 3 project gets under way, the south wing of the remaining part of the vacant Science Building will be demolished. The demolition is planned to begin today and is expected to continue through June.

These routes will not be shut down simultaneously, and alternate detour routes and fire lanes will be posted when a route is shut down.
