PSM Seminar Series - 'A Medicinal Chemistry Story: Exploring the Glutamate Hypothesis using Glycine Transporter-1 (GlyT1) Inhibitors as Potential Therapy to Treat Schizophrenia' - March 22

Posted:

Please join us for the Professional Science Master's seminar "A Medicinal Chemistry Story: Exploring the Glutamate Hypothesis using Glycine Transporter-1 (GlyT1) Inhibitors as Potential Therapy to Treat Schizophrenia," presented by Mark Wolf, Ph.D., section head of Medicinal Chemistry at Albany Molecular Research Inc. (AMRI) Buffalo, on Thursday, March 22, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Technology Building 160.

This presentation will focus on a medicinal chemistry project from early hit-to-lead through lead optimization. The design, synthesis, and structure–activity relationships (SAR) of a series of inhibitors of glycine transporter-1 (GlyT-1) will be described. The challenges faced by the program and the optimization of the core scaffold that led to the identification of a GlyT-1 inhibitor, which demonstrated in vivo activity in a rodent cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) glycine model, will be discussed.

Readings from OyamO’s 'I Am a Man': April 3, 4, 5

Posted:

Students from THA 106 will read select scenes from Charles “OyamO” Gordon’s I Am a Man on Wednesday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr.

Playwright Charles F. "OyamO" Gordon is a professor emeritus at the University of Michigan. His critically acclaimed I Am a Man is a powerful play about the sanitation workers' strike in Memphis, Tennessee, which eventually brought Martin Luther King Jr. to that fateful city. A discussion and activities regarding the issues of racial and social justice will be included in the performance.

Because of limited seating at the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology, the Buffalo State community is encouraged to attend either of the on-campus readings of I Am a Man on Tuesday, April 3 (Act I), or Thursday, April 5 (Act II), during Bengal Pause (12:15–1:30 p.m.) in the Savage Building's Flexible Theatre. Funding for these readings is provided by an Equity and Campus Diversity Program Grant. For more information on the readings, please contact Patrick Moltane, lecturer in the Theater Department.

Purchase Requisition Deadlines for End of Fiscal Year 2017-2018

Posted:

Please note: Purchase requisition deadline dates have been revised from those used in prior years. This is due to a change in fiscal year-end payment processing deadline dates requested by the SUNY Controller’s Office. Please note the revised dates as specified below.

Requisitions for supplies, materials, services, office supplies, and equipment from fiscal year 2017–2018 funds must be received in the Procurement Office by the close of business (4:00 p.m.) on the following dates:

Furniture orders (all)
Monday, April 2, 2018

Software orders
Monday, April 2, 2018

Office supply orders
Friday, June 1, 2018

All other orders requiring a purchase requisition
Tuesday, May 1, 2018

Important note regarding P-Cards: Procurement Card (P-Card) purchases will not be restricted during the time between the above cutoff dates and the end of the fiscal year. Departments may still use their P-Cards for authorized purchases during this time.

To make ordering at the end of the fiscal year a smooth process for everyone, please do your best to plan your ordering as far in advance as possible to make sure you have the goods and services you need before the cutoff dates. Submitting requisitions well before the cutoff dates will give Procurement Services the time it needs to place orders before the deadlines.

Important note: It is the responsibility of departments to ensure that all requisitions for fiscal year 2017–2018 are received in the Procurement Office by 4:00 p.m. on the above deadline dates. Requests received after the deadlines will be held until the start of the next fiscal year.

Once again, end-of-fiscal-year deadlines do not relate to P-Card usage. Offices and departments may continue to use P-Cards throughout this transition period with no interruptions. For P-Card questions or for information on how to obtain a P-Card, please contact Bonnie McKay, director of noncontract procurement, 878-5504.

Please contact Steve Olsen, director of contract management, 878-4113, with questions.
