Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be lowered to half-staff today, March 13, in honor of Army Sgt. First Class Maitland Wilson, a Brooklyn resident, who died in Landsthul Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, on March 7, 2018.

"I extend my deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow service members of Army Sgt. First Class Maitland Wilson," Governor Cuomo said. "We join his loved ones in honoring his service and his sacrifice to this great nation."

Sgt. Wilson, 38, died as the result of a noncombat incident that is under investigation. He was assigned to the 831st Transportation Battalion of the 595 Transportation Brigade stationed in Manama, Bahrain, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve missions in Iraq and Syria.

Governor Cuomo has directed that flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of and in tribute to New York service members and those stationed in New York who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.

Registrar's Office: Summer, Fall 2018 Banner Preview

Banner Preview began Wednesday, March 7. Both summer and fall 2018 master schedules are viewable in Banner and Schedule Planner. Students can also view any holds (if applicable) and timeticket (registration start date). Timetickets are based on earned credit hours. Students should not count their current semester or "in progress" credit hours for the spring 2018 semester. All registration-related activity begins at 6:00 a.m. on the assigned date and is then continuous. Registration for summer and fall 2018 begins Wednesday, April 4.

Adjunct Faculty Workshops: Introduction to Service Learning and Community Engagement - April 11, 13

Adjunct faculty members are invited to attend an interactive session on service-learning pedagogy and the practice of incorporating a community engagement project into a course on either Wednesday, April 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Cleveland Hall 418 or Friday, April 13, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Classroom Building B108. Attendees will receive a $100 stipend.

Topics will include an overview of the theory and practice of service learning, and support with converting a course to include a community-based project.

Adjunct faculty members should register by e-mail.

Tell Students: Job and Internship Fair - Today

The Career Development Center will host its 2018 Job and Internship Fair today, March 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. The fair is open to current Buffalo State students and alumni from all majors and year levels. More than 65 employers from local, regional, and national organizations will be in attendance to recruit for full-time jobs and paid internships.?

Please join us for the film screening and lecture "The Flowers of St. Francis," hosted by Zachary E. Malone, lecturer in the English Department, on Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. in Upton Hall 230. This event is part of the English Department's Spring 2018 Film and Lecture Series.

A short (10- to 15-minute) introduction on the film's context, symbolism, and relevant themes will precede the film, and a Q&A will follow. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.

Spring 2018 Midterm Faculty Grading Window Closes April 2

The spring 2018 midterm faculty grading window is now open and will close Monday, April 2, at 9:00 p.m. 

Students will be able to view their grades in Banner, Degree Works, and the Bengal Success Portal (Starfish) as soon as midterm grades are posted by faculty members. Advisers can obtain copies of the midterm grading reports for their academic intervention use through their deans’ offices.
