The next meeting of the College Senate for fall 2019 will be held tomorrow, October 11, at 3:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 423. The meeting agenda (PDF, 132 KB), which includes advance constituent questions that the administration will address at the meeting, is now posted.

Professional Development Workshop: 'Leading Authentically to Inspire, Ignite, and Transform' - October 31

Please join us for the professional development workshop “Leading Authentically to Inspire, Ignite, and Transform,” presented by Jocelyn Tejeda, senior EOP counselor, on Thursday, October 31, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Chase Hall 109.

Leading authentically requires a keen sense of self-awareness, courage, openness, and trust. Developing these approaches to leading can be a tool for creating common ground while valuing the different perspectives of your team when managing change. This interactive workshop will use the power of storytelling and shared values as a compass to build relationships, guide difficult decisions, and lead effectively. In addition, you will learn how to use these shared values as a base for developing a holistic team vision.

Professional Development Workshop - 'Key Components for Workplace Creativity: Strategies for Innovating Your Work' - October 24

Please join us for the professional development workshop “Key Components for Workplace Creativity: Strategies for Innovating Your Work,” presented by Pamela Szalay, consultant and coach with Imagine&, on Thursday, October 24, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in Chase Hall 109.

According to recent reports by the World Economic Forum, creativity is a top skill necessary for success. But what exactly is creativity, and how can it be leveraged? In this workshop, you will learn about the science of creativity, your natural creative capacity, and how you can use the creative process to make innovation happen in the workplace. Practical tools and techniques will be shared, followed by the opportunity to apply them and discuss how they might be used in various settings, from the administrative office to the lecture hall to the research lab.

Flu Vaccine Clinic: Today

Flu vaccines will be available for faculty, staff, and students today, October 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Cleveland Hall 205. No appointment is necessary.

The following health insurance plans will be accepted: Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY, Independent Health, Blue Choice, MVP, and Medicare Part B. Proof of insurance is required. Employees without a participating insurance plan will be charged $30 for the flu shot.

Participation and acceptance of any insurance is not a guarantee of benefits or payment in full. Co-payments or a deductible may apply. Please call your insurance provider’s member services department with questions regarding coverage.

Empire Plan enrollees may obtain their flu shot from an Empire Plan participating pharmacy without copay or at their doctor’s office (participating provider) for their usual co-pay should they wish to do so.

Please call Employee Benefits at 878-4821 or the member services department of your insurance company with questions regarding your health insurance coverage. The phone number should be on your insurance card.

Diversity Dialogue Speaker Series: 'Accessibility and Disability on Campus and in the Work Environment' - October 22

Please join the Equity and Campus Diversity Office for a panel discussion, "Accessibility and Disability on Campus and in the Work Environment," on Tuesday, October 22, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union.

The panel will feature a Buffalo State student, a representative from Student Accessibility Services, a representative from local nonprofit Compeer, and others. These monthly Diversity Dialogue Speaker Series are meant to engage students, faculty, and staff members in discussions about important topics in a safe and curious way. As always, this event is open to all.
