Spring 2020 Midterm Grading Window: March 9-20

Posted:

The spring 2020 midterm grading window will open in Banner at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, and close at 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 20. In addition to issuing a midterm grade, faculty members can mark how regularly a student has attended a course by entering 0 (never attended), 1 (sporadic, unsatisfactory attendance), or 2 (consistent, satisfactory attendance) in the “Hours Attended” field. Midterm grade submissions for all registered students are useful as these grades are helpful for campuswide academic intervention and retention efforts.

Electronic Course Evaluations: EvaluationKIT Administrator Training

Posted:

Training sessions for current and new EvaluationKIT administrators begin this week. EvaluationKIT is the official campus electronic course evaluation system that provides greater efficiency for the deployment, collection, and analysis of course evaluations across the institution. It is designed to streamline the entire student feedback process for our campus.

As of fall 2019, all academic departments have implemented EvaluationKIT, and each department should have a designated EvaluationKIT administrator (EKAdmin) to assist with the coordination of evaluations and to assist faculty members in retrieving reports.

Please register for a training session through the Workshop Registration System, and please contact Tiffany Fuzak, research analyst in the Institutional Effectiveness Office, 878-4132, with questions about your department's designated EKAdmin or to appoint a new EKAdmin.

Webinar: 'Building Student Dispositions for Community-Engaged Learning' - May 7

Posted:

Please join the Civic and Community Engagement Office for a free webinar, "Building Student Dispositions for Community-Engaged Learning," on Thursday, May 7, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in South Wing 137.

This webinar introduces dispositions as a framework for students’ community-engaged learning. Dispositions are filters made up of values, beliefs, cultural backgrounds, and prior experiences that shape how we take in information and make sense of it. Too often, student orientation to community-engaged learning is a checklist of signing waiver forms, logging volunteer hours, and meeting minimum requirements. While logistics matter, the heart of preparation for engaging with community is bringing and developing a set of dispositions that foster positive cognitive and affective growth. While many dispositions can contribute to such growth, focusing on a small set of strategic dispositions provides a robust framework for making sense of community-engaged learning experiences.

Register for the free webinar by e-mailing the Civic and Community Engagement Office or calling 878-3919.
