Dietitian Education Program Cookie Sale

Posted:

Adapting to the necessary changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the dietitian education program wanted to find a way to support our campus community in place of its annual fall chili sale.

This year, we have created a "make at home" cookie kit that includes all the dry ingredients and instructions to bake a pumpkin spice oatmeal cookie. This is a great opportunity to try out a new recipe and activity with the family members or friends you've been spending so much quality time with. The cookie kit costs $8, payable by cash at delivery. All proceeds of the sale will be donated to Milligan's Food Pantry on campus.

Please e-mail your orders by Friday, November 13. Our Class of 2022 dietitian education program students will deliver your order to the campus location of your choice on Thursday, November 19. If you'd like to make alternative plans, please let us know and we will do our best to make it happen. We will adhere to social distancing guidelines during all steps of the preparation and delivery.

Thank you for supporting our class as well as Milligan's Food Pantry.

Test Tips in Blackboard Learn

Posted:

Faculty members, as you create and deploy tests in Blackboard Learn, please keep the following tips in mind to ensure the best experience for students:

  • Tell Students - Update the Blackboard App
    • Inform students that they should update their Blackboard mobile app before using it to take a test. Students will experience difficulties if they are not using the latest version of the Blackboard app. If students do experience issues while taking a test, please encourage them to contact the SUNY Online HelpDesk as soon as they experience an issue.

  • Faculty - Check Your Test Settings

    • When deploying a test in your Blackboard Learn course, choose test settings that will help prevent timeout issues as students are taking the test. Within test settings, we recommend that faculty members

      • display questions one at a time, and
      • do not select "Force Completion."

To learn more, please register for an upcoming Blackboard Learn workshop:

If you’re unable to attend a workshop, please view our Blackboard Knowledge Base articles.

Faculty and students who have questions about Blackboard are encouraged to contact the SUNY Online Help Desk, (844) 673-6786; submit a support request online; or chat with a SUNY Online Blackboard specialist.

Virtual Involvement Fair: Showcase Your Department

Posted:

Student Leadership and Engagement is hosting a Virtual Involvement Fair via Flipgrid, an online platform that engages its users through video responses. We are encouraging student organizations and campus departments to engage on this platform through the creation of short videos. These videos are meant to provide the opportunity to tell current students what services  and involvement opportunities your department offers. Students will also have the opportunity to reply to your videos and ask questions. Once your video is posted, students can access them asynchronously. This is a great way to stay involved and let students know what's going on at Buffalo State College.

For instructions and how to access Flipgrid, please visit the Student Leadership and Engagement website.

If you have questions, please contact Alyssa Krawczyk, graduate assistant for Student Leadership and Engagement.

University Police Eighth Annual Goatees and Beards for Charity

Posted:

The University Police Department has temporarily suspended the grooming standards for the department to allow officers to participate in the eighth annual Goatees and Beards for Charity fundraiser. Participants contribute $50 each to grow a goatee or $75 each to grow a beard for eight weeks, until December 31, to benefit this charitable event. Seventeen officers are participating this year. Funds raised will be donated to the Western New York Police Helpline, which provides 24/7 confidential assistance, information, and referrals by trained police peers to working and retired police officers, corrections officers, dispatchers, and their families. The helpline assists with any issues that may affect work and family life.
