Call for Nominations: Caring Bengal Award

Posted:

As our campus community continues to adjust to new and innovative ways of working and learning during this unsettling time, we invite members of the campus community to recognize and submit nominations for individuals who have gone above and beyond in their role to ensure the entire campus community receives excellent support on and off campus. Please submit nominations for the President’s Caring Bengal Award by 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 3. Please visit the award website for more information about the award criteria and recipient selection process or to submit a nomination.

Award Description
Each of us knows a faculty member, staff member, or administrator who transforms the work and personal lives of their colleagues by supporting them with compassion, care, respect, and collegiality. These caring colleagues in our community can be found at every level of our institution, and although they create positive work experiences for each person they encounter, their contributions to our community sometimes go unnoticed. To recognize these supportive colleagues in our community, each month faculty, staff, and administrators across all ranks, unions, and titles can be nominated by a colleague or student to receive the Caring Bengal Award.

The Faculty and Staff Recognition Committee, which includes faculty and staff representation from UUP, CSEA, the College Senate, and the Professional Staff Caucus, will review award nominations and select the award recipient each month. Each month, award recipients will be announced in the Daily Bulletin.

Please contact Jonathan Hulbert, director of leadership and organizational development, with questions about the President’s Caring Bengal Award.

Buffalo State Spring 2021 Challenge Ends May 2

Posted:

There is still time to participate in the Buffalo State Spring 2021 Challenge. As we look back at this past year and how our lives have changed, we hope this challenge encourages you to step outside of your "day to day" routine and take some time for yourself, your neighbor, and your community and do something you have never done or may not have been able to make time for in the past.

If you are interested in taking part in the challenge, please register and complete at least 10 activities from the list on the flier before midnight on Sunday, May 2. While taking part in each activity, please take a picture to capture the activity. Then submit these pictures either throughout the course of the challenge or all at once no later than Sunday, May 2, by midnight. As an option, we encourage you to post your picture on social media and tag with #BuffStateChallenge.

If you have any questions, please email Rebecca Eggleston, staff assistant in the Professional Development Center.

Call for Proposals - AFP 2021: Believe. Inspire. Achieve.

Posted:

The Anne Frank Project announces a call for proposals for AFP 2021: Believe. Inspire. Achieve., the 13th annual social justice festival, to be held October 12–14 in a hybrid format (subject to SUNY COVID mandates). AFP’s annual social justice festival is an experiential exchange of ideas with a focus on processing theory into practice. We share diverse performances, workshops, and exhibits that actively engage participants in kinesthetic learning opportunities that connect to the festival's theme, AFP's mission, and the story of Anne Frank.

AFP 2021: Believe. Inspire. Achieve.
AFP 2021 supports the theme for the 150th anniversary of Buffalo State College: “Believe. Inspire. Achieve.” These three words symbolize the storyline of our students’ journey through college, and the people and experiences that strengthen them. The workshops, artwork, and speakers at AFP 2021 will focus this storyline through the lens of social justice: Who or what pushes us toward excellence amidst the multiple odds and obstacles against us? This year’s festival seeks multidisciplinary workshops and artworks that define and expose the Belief and Inspiration required to Achieve an improved world.

Proposals are due by Thursday, July 1. For more information about Buffalo State College’s Anne Frank Project, please visit the AFP website.

Please e-mail Eve Everette, assistant director of AFP, with questions.
