EOP Honors Convocation Celebration: May 6

The Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program will celebrate the exemplary academic performance of its students during the annual Honors Convocation on Thursday, May 6, at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom. This year's theme is “Resilient… Believe, Inspire, Achieve.” Program highlights include recognition of student achievements and recognition of distinguished alumnus Yasin Mohammed, a political science major from the Class of 1999, who is currently serving as the deputy director of procurement and contract management for the Maryland State Highway Administration. 

The EOP Honors Convocation recognizes students who have obtained a 3.0 semester or cumulative GPA during the 2020 calendar year. Special awards are also given to faculty, staff, and outstanding students who have provided valuable contributions to EOP. The campus community is invited to attend our virtual ceremony.

Free Online Cooking Class with Celebrity Chef: May 3

Weigel Health Promotions has been collaborating with Buffalo State College alumnus Stephen Forman, executive chef for the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, to provide free online cooking classes each week. This Monday, May 3, he will host special guest chef Darian Bryan, owner of the Plating Society and personal chef for several of the Buffalo Bills players, including Stefon Diggs, at 5:00 p.m. on the Thyme-N-Honey Facebook Live website. Chef Bryan, also a Buffalo State alumnus, was recently featured on CBS and ESPN. He is from Jamaica and will be cooking a traditional meal of Jamaican curry with rice and peas. Please share this information with students and consider offering extra credit for attendance. This event was also featured in Step Out Buffalo.

The College Senate Bylaws and Elections Committee will host an election May 3–7 to fill one support staff seat, open to all classified employees of the college. The election is for a three-year term (2021–2024). Voting will begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 3, and continue until 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 7. The College Senate Bylaws and Elections Committee will again use an electronic voting system supplemented by paper ballots to conduct the election.

Our primary goals are to encourage participation in the shared governance of Buffalo State College and to share information on each candidate. If you have not already visited the College Senate’s Elections and Caucus information site to review the candidates’ qualifications, please do so.

Voter Eligibility
All full-time classified employees (all negotiating units except NU = 8 and NU = 13) are eligible to vote.

We urge everyone to vote electronically. Paper ballots will be sent only to voters who request them.
