Beyond and Back: Where Can Buffalo State Take You? - April 18

Posted:

The School of Education is once again gearing up for Beyond and Back on Tuesday, April 18, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM in the Campbell Student Union Assembly Halls. This annual event, hosted by the Michael and Nancy Chicola International Professional Development Schools (IPDS) Consortium, brings full circle all the global and service learning activities completed by our students and faculty—sharing what has been done and what is possible for those interested in doing more.

Please encourage students and colleagues to attend.

The event will include a panel discussion by IPDS alumni who have participated in short-term, student-teaching, and experienced educator international programs. Attendees will also have a chance to speak with alumni and program leaders during the “passport promenade” to hear personal reflections and learn about upcoming programs. Beyond and Back is open to everyone. No registration required. Please email your class information to Tamar Horstman-Riphahn, executive assistant to the dean, and we’ll provide a sign-in sheet for those who wish to offer extra credit.

Call for Nominations: President's Caring Bengal Award - Due April 14

Posted:

Members of the campus community are invited to submit nominations for the President’s Caring Bengal Award by 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 14. Please visit the award website for more information about the award criteria and recipient selection process or to submit a nomination.

Award Description
Each of us knows a faculty member, staff member, or administrator who transforms the work and personal lives of their colleagues by supporting them with compassion, care, respect, and collegiality. These caring colleagues in our community can be found at every level of our institution, and although they create positive work experiences for each person they encounter, their contribution to our community sometimes goes unnoticed. To recognize these supportive colleagues in our community, each month faculty, staff, and administrators across all ranks, unions, and titles can be nominated by a colleague or student to receive the Caring Bengal Award.

The Faculty and Staff Recognition Committee, which includes faculty and staff representation from UUP, CSEA, the Buffalo State Senate, and the Professional Staff Caucus, reviews award nominations and selects the award recipient each month.

Please contact Rebecca Eggleston, staff assistant in the Professional Development Center, with questions about the President’s Caring Bengal Award.

Tell Students: Today - Counseling Center Student Advisory Committee: General Meeting - with Pizza!

Posted:

The second general meeting of the Student Advisory Committee will be held today, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Counseling Center, Weigel Wellness Center 203 (second floor). We are excited to work together on ways that students and staff can collaborate to enhance services and reduce barriers, and discuss a vision to have optimal mental health services available for students. Students can notify us of their attendance ahead of time, which would be appreciated; however if students' plans change at the last minute, they are still welcome to come and join the conversation! If students are interested but unable to attend tomorrow, please ask them to contact Suzanne Johnson at counselingcenter@buffalostate.edu, Attn: Suzanne Johnson, SAC.

Thank you.
