Bengal Buy Receivers

Posted:

Receivers within Bengal Buy indicate to the Accounts Payable Department that an order placed for goods is in acceptable condition or the service performed was adequate. Within the system, this electronically and automatically matches the invoice with your receiver, giving us the “OK to Pay” or “goldenrod” of days old.

All orders within Bengal Buy must be received by the ordering department and must have a receiver created. It is the best practice to create a receiver within five business days of the goods being received or the services being performed. Receivers must also be created for software services. If an invoice was provided with the goods or services, you must attach the invoice to the receiver.

Please refer to further training on the Procurement Services website for guides on Entering a Receiver.

Please email Accounts Payable with questions or concerns.

2023 SEFA Campaign: 'Why We Give' Segment

Posted:

"For over two decades, I've dedicated my time to the SEFA Campaign while working in the Information Technology Department, driven by a profound sense of humanity. My commitment extends beyond the confines of Buffalo State, embracing the wider community we collectively call home. During my time as an adjunct in the Computer Information Systems Department, I consistently instilled in my students the importance of giving back to our community. I firmly believe that contributing to the improvement of our surroundings is a collective and shared responsibility, one that yields benefits for everyone involved. Now, as SEFA co-chair, my commitment is deeply rooted in the well-being of Buffalo State, its faculty and staff, and the broader community. That is why I give through this campaign and not directly through another source. Every dollar helps, and your contribution makes a meaningful impact. Please consider giving through this campaign to a charity of your choice."
—Maria Garrity

We warmly invite you to share your reasons for giving, and we'll feature them in the Daily. Please send your thoughts to campaign co-chairs Wendy Paterson, dean of the School of Education, or Maria C. Garrity, senior systems programmer in Information Technology. We're currently slightly past the halfway mark toward our campus goal. Let's maintain our momentum, as together, we can achieve this! To donate, please go to the e-pledge system and click "Forgot user ID or password" to begin the process, even if you are rolling over your pledge from last year. This instructional video and documentation can further guide you.

Thank you.

Posted:

The Dr. Katherine S. Conway-Turner Civic and Community Engagement Office is co-hosting a new civic engagement reading group for interested faculty, staff, students, and community partners. This group is a collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement at California State University, Northridge (CSUN)

This partnership will provide an opportunity to discuss relevant community engagement topics in an intimate setting while networking with colleagues from another university with many similarities to our own. Together, we will discuss short civic engagement readings that are relevant to both communities.

Our first meeting will take place Friday, December 1, from noon to 1:00 p.m. (EST). To register and receive the Zoom link and copies of the readings, please complete the online form no later than Monday, November 27, at 3:00 p.m.

The readings for our first meeting will be a recent piece called “The Insular World of Academic Research” from the Chronicle of Higher Education, and the introduction and chapter 1 of Anti-Racist Community Engagement: Principles and Practices.

We expect subsequent meetings to take place on Fridays from noon to 1:00 (EST). Please contact Alice Villaseńor, CCE associate director, for more information.
