Water Shutoff at STAC, Buckham: August 29

Posted:

The water supply to the Student Apartment Complex (STAC) and Buckham Hall, including the Child Care Center, will be shut off on Thursday, August 29, for about seven hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. This unavoidable interruption is necessary to complete the reconstruction of Lot R-13 this fall. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we make campus improvements.

Please plan for this interruption accordingly. Restrooms, showers, and laundry amenities will be unavailable in the affected buildings. Alternative restrooms will be available nearby in the Sports Arena, Houston Gym, Technology Building, and LoRusso Alumni and Visitor Center.

The Child Care Center will be closed Thursday, August 29; parents and caregivers have been notified. Classes will be held as usual in Buckham Hall, but restrooms will be closed.

A notification will be sent to the campus community when the water supply is restored following the work.

Please contact vpfm@buffalostate.edu with questions or if you require special accommodations. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Registrar's Office: A Late Drop Is Not a Drop; It Is a Withdrawal with Financial Penalties

Posted:

Students can only drop a course in Banner through the first week of classes, specifically, through the end of registration, which is 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, September 3.

If a student wants to drop a class after September 3, it is not a Drop but a Withdrawal from Course. When students drop a class, they have no financial liability, but after the first week of classes, withdrawals carry the possibility of financial penalties. Please bookmark the Student Accounts Tuition and Fees page for detailed information by semester.

Drops can be completed easily online with Banner. Withdrawal from Course is also done online in Banner.

Drops do not show on a student's official academic record. Withdrawals are recorded as a "W" next to the class, although they have no effect on a student's average.

It is always recommended that a student complete all registrations, including drops and adds, before the first day of class, August 26. If students need to make changes during the first week, they should be encouraged to complete the drop as soon as they can as a courtesy to the faculty and other students who may want or need that seat.

REFUND INFORMATION FROM THE STUDENT ACCOUNTS OFFICE:

Official Withdrawal Date Percentage of Refund - Fall 2024

Through September 3, 2024  100% TUITION, 100% MANDATORY FEES
September 4-10, 2024  70% TUITION, 0% MANDATORY FEES
September 11-17, 2024  50% TUITION, 0% MANDATORY FEES
September 18-24, 2024  30% TUITION, 0% MANDATORY FEES

After September 24, 2024 FULL LIABILITY FOR TUITION AND FEES

NON-ATTENDANCE AT CLASS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN OFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL.

September 3, 2024, is the last day to drop fall 2024 classes or withdraw without financial penalty.

Registrar's Office: Alternative Means of Earning Credit

Posted:

Undergraduate Independent Study, Course by Contract, and Special Project forms and Individual Graduate Study applications are due in the Registrar's Office by Friday, August 30 (published deadline). We strongly encourage students to meet this deadline so that classes are reflected on their schedules. There is a grace period, and all forms will continue to be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, September 12, to match the Online Late Add Process deadline. Forms are available in most academic department offices or online. Policies governing these alternative means of earning credit are available in the undergraduate and graduate catalogs. Please be sure to have students review their completed forms before turning them in so they do not experience a delay in processing because of missing required data fields or required signatures.
