Home: An Anne Frank Project Exhibition is currently on view in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery through Wednesday, October 16. This extensive exhibition features artwork from Buffalo State University faculty, staff, students, and the community. 

Please join Art and Design for a reception this evening, October 10, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Upton Hall foyer.

Fall Is for Fashion! October M&T Second Friday at the Burchfield Penney - October 11

Get ready for an unforgettable night of fashion, art, and music at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on M&T Second Friday, October 11, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. The center is teaming up with Beau Fleuve Music & Arts and the Buffalo State Fashion and Textile Technology and Art and Design departments to bring you a fashion-forward evening you won't want to miss!

Live Music and DJ, curated by Beau Fleuve Music & Arts: Light up the dance floor to tunes by DJ Yama and live music by wavy.

Fashion Activities: Get hands-on with fashion activities led by Buffalo State's talented Fashion and Textile Technology and Art and Design students. Design your own iron-on patch and participate in the creation of a collaborative textile installation.

Bengal Bodega Pop-Up: Shop an exclusive pop-up market filled with unique handmade creations and vintage finds by Buffalo State students. Support local makers and discover one-of-a-kind treasures. A portion of the proceeds goes to Milligan's Food Pantry.

Exhibition Opening: Immerse yourself in inspiring artwork in the galleries, and experience the opening of A-Typical, a docent-curated exhibition of works from the collection.

Photography: Buffalo State photography students will be capturing moments throughout the night!

Sold-Out Concert at PAC Friday: Expect Large Crowds

Average White Band performs to a sold-out crowd at the Performing Arts Center this Friday, October 11, at 8:00 p.m. Expect large crowds in and around Rockwell Hall during this time. Tickets will not be available at the door for this concert; we suggest avoiding Rockwell Hall Friday evening if you do not have a ticket to this event. Also, this Saturday, October 12, at 8:00 p.m., pop icon Debbie Gibson stops at the PAC as part of her Acoustic Youth: Songs and Stories from the Electric Youth Era Tour. Tickets remain available for Saturday night and can be purchased at a faculty/staff discounted rate of $20 at the Rockwell Hall Box Office between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Tickets are available at the regular rate anytime online.

2024 SEFA/United Way Campaign Kickoff: October 28 - Volunteers Needed

From the SEFA/United Way Campaign Co-chairs
Buffalo State's annual State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) and United Way Campaign begins Monday October 28. The university has a long tradition of generously giving to organizations that improve the lives of men, women, children, and pets in Western New York and beyond. The campaign theme is "Start Something Good." We hope we can count on you to help Buffalo State University maintain its status of having the highest rate of participation of any SUNY campus.

This year's featured agency is BestSelf Behavioral Health 57-00615.

Also, this year marks the introduction of continuous giving/rollover pledges. Last year's pledges will automatically roll over. Donors who wish to make changes to their pledged amounts or selected agencies can do so via the electronic pledge system (system will be activated October 28). Pledges may be made electronically or through your department's ambassador on or after Monday, October 28. 

Prizes to be raffled off at the end of the campaign in December:

  • First prize: Sunday brunch for 10 people, donated by Interim President Durand
  • Second prize: Reserved parking space, donated by Interim Vice President Krieger
  • Third prize: Office pizza party for up to 12 people, donated by Interim Provost Wall
  • Fourth prize: Bengal deck party with seasonal refreshments for 10 people at a fall 2025 football game, donated by Interim Vice President Brumfield
  • Fifth prize: Two tickets to annual Bengala Scholarship Gala, donated by Vice President Finnerty
  • Sixth prize: Taco Tuesday lunch for up to 10 people for a taco/nacho bar catered by Chartwells, donated by Vice President Bowen
  • Seventh prize: $100 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble Bookstore, donated by bookstore manager Lynn Puma 
  • Eighth prize: Lunch for four people at Campus House, donated by SEFA Campaign co-chairs Wendy Paterson and Maria Garrity

Please keep an eye out for an upcoming email from the School of Education inviting you to become a SEFA ambassador for your department. If you're interested, please respond no later than Friday, October 18.

We will be creating a visual assessment of the data collected to show you where we stand on this election, peer to peer. Complete this quick Bengals Vote Coalition survey to share your opinion.

Catch us at upcoming voter drop-in information tabling events such as the "Speak Your Mind" campaign to get involved throughout October!

We are also giving out free "Don't Throw Shade. VOTE!" T-shirts on October 8, 10, and 22 to be worn on election eve, November 4, and election day, November 5, to help everyone remember to vote.
