Donna Jordan Dusel, lecturer in the Fine Arts Department, will be the featured guest artist on the Burnham and Dodge Art Hour radio program on Wednesday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. Dusel, who has been at Buffalo State for the past three years, has taught photography for more than 30 years. She will speak about photography at www.thinktwiceradio.com/schultz-morgan.

Gounard, director of international student affairs and vice president for advocacy of the Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Fulbright Association, spoke on the latest developments of the Fulbright program at a chapter conference at the University at Buffalo, "African Connections," on April 12.

Zhang Jie, Sociology

Zhang Jie, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies, and William F. Wieczorek, director of the Center for Health and Social Research, published their article "Depression, Anxiety, and Suicidal Ideation among Chinese Americans: A Study of Immigration-Related Factors," in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease 201 (1):17–22. Le Fang and Yow-Wu B. Wu were coauthors on the study. Le Fang was a visiting scholar at Buffalo State about four years ago.

Andrew Garrity, Computing and Technology Services

For the 10th consecutive time, Andrew Garrity, programmer/analyst in Computing and Technology Services, won first place in the faculty-staff category at the 16th annual Bengal 5K Scholarship Run on Saturday April 6. Garrity was part of the Campus Trendsetters group. Other group members included Ralph Chille, Rock Doyle, Maria Garrity, Churchill Gwan, John Hejna, Gloria Lupkin, Ivar Lupkin, Neil Palmer, Bryan Penberthy, Michael Radomski, Denise Raslawsky, Scott Simon, Betty Spencer, and Joanna Stergion.

The Bengal 5K benefits the Alumni Association's Legacy Scholarship Fund and the Armed Services Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students and provide funding for student-veterans at Buffalo State.

Bridget María Chesterton, History and Social Studies Education

An article by Bridget Chesterton, assistant professor of history and social studies education, titled "Making It Legitimate: Misappropriation of the Paraguayan Past during and after the June 2012 Golpe Parlamentario," will be published in the June issue of the Galician (Spain) journal Tempo Exterior. The article is about the June 2012 parliamentary coup in Paraguay. The journal is a publication of the Instituto Galego de Análise e Documentación Internacional (the Galician Institute of Analysis and International Documentation). Chesterton has completed the article and is waiting for the translation.
