New Course:
SLP 507 Introduction to Signed Language Systems. Fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Signed English (PSE), and Signed Exact English (SEE), including basic grammatical features, language functions, and fingerspelling. Provides students with receptive and expressive skills for ASL, PSE, and SEE communication with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Additional content in deafness, deaf culture, and signed languages. Offered every semester, beginning fall 2023.

The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the Senate Curriculum Committee for review and approval:

New Course:
DAN 214 Introduction to Dance Techniques. Introduction to various artistic dance genres. Develop an understanding of the dancer as a performing artist through the physical practice of criterion common and specific to a variety of dance techniques: body as the instrument for dance, kinesthetic awareness, a codified terminology, and the influential aesthetic elements that define various dance techniques. Attend a live dance performance.

New Course and Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Designation:
GEG/PLN 396 Research Methods (WAC). Prerequisites: GEG 199, GEG 390, and six upper division credits in GEG/PLN courses. Research theories, designs, and methods relevant to conducting research in geography and planning. Research designs and methodologies for approaches with human subjects, human/social geography, physical geography, field-based research, and planning projects. Development of a research project proposal.

New Course:
FAR 373 Venetian Art and Culture, 1300-1800. Prerequisites: Art History I (FAR 250) and II (FAR 251). The history of Venetian architecture, sculpture, and painting considered within historical, geographical, and cultural contexts from the fourteenth through the eighteenth century. Students will undertake original research and will carry out individual projects.
