'The Ladies Man' by Georges Feydeau, Adapted by Charles Morey

The Buffalo State Theater Department presents The Ladies Man, a comedy by Georges Feydeau and adapted by Charles Morey, from March 7 through March 16 in Warren Enters Theatre in Upton Hall. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. with additional matinees on Saturday, March 9 and 16, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 for Buffalo State students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $15 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased in the Student Union, Rockwell Hall, or Enters Theater box office prior to performance. Call ext. 3005 for more information.

Textbook Returns

Do you need textbooks to be held in stock? In preparation for next term, the bookstore will begin returning unsold textbooks, but we know there may be titles that will not be assigned until later in the term, and we’d like to make sure we keep them in stock and available for students to buy. Please let us know by Friday, March 15, if you have any title(s) you would like to have held until later in the semester. Textbooks may be held until Friday, April 5. Please remind your students to stop in to the bookstore to purchase any textbooks that they may still need for class.

Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) Presents Fire Safety Workshop

The Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) will sponsor a brown-bag lunch meeting to discuss fire safety at work and at home on Thursday, March 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 208.

Nancy Van Voorhees of the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Office of Fire Prevention and Control Inspections and Investigations branch, will give a 20-minute presentation on various aspects of campus fire safety. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.

If you have questions, you may e-mail them ahead of time to cert@buffalostate.edu. All are welcome, so bring your lunch, bring your questions, and come and learn about fire safety.

Short Films by Filmmaker Dani Leventhal: March 8 at BPAC

The Consider the Alternatives documentary film series returns on Friday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. with a personal appearance by documentary filmmaker Dani Leventhal. She will show several of her short films and participate in a Q&A session afterward as part of M&T Second Fridays at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

Leventhal's moving autobiographical videos, which offer surprising contrasts between the everyday and the extraordinary, have drawn international attention at screenings in festivals and museums such as the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles Filmforum, the New York Film Festival, PS1, and Anthology Film Archives. Her work is also in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Consider the Alternatives is a documentary screening series programmed by associate professor Meg Knowles and professor Michael Niman of the Buffalo State Communication Department. This event is cosponsored by the Burchfield Penney Art Center, the Communication Department, and Squeaky Wheel Media Arts Center. Free to members of the Buffalo State community.
