Choreo-poem 'Black Girls’ Anthem' Comes to Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall

MJS Productions of Rochester is pleased to present Black Girls’ Anthem on Saturday, March 31, at 8:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.

Black Girls' Anthem combines music, poetry, dance, and drama to illustrate the stories of six black women. It "explores the themes of motherhood, relationships, sisterhood, love, empowerment, self-esteem, legacy, and more,” explains Melany J. Silas, the author and producer who also appears in the production. “It truly is a piece that embodies themes of empowerment, love, and an undying spirit of resilence.”

Tickets are $20 for students, $25 for general admission, and $35 for VIP seating. Tickets can be purchased at the Rockwell Hall box office or charged by phone at ext. 3005.

Reminder: Budget Development Process Workshops

The Buffalo State Budget Office is offering Budget Development Process workshops on Tuesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 5. These workshops are appropriate for department chairs, directors, and designated assistants, whether new to campus or interested in a “refresher” class.

Please contact the Budget Office, ext. 4312, to ensure that appropriate authorization is in place. Authorization for the Budget Development Process application is separate from all other account authorizations. While not required, one session of training is advised for those who will participate in the annual budget process. Please contact the Budget Office if you have questions.

SMRT Application Training for Account Managers

Training for the SUNY Management Resource Tool (SMRT) will be offered on Monday, April 9, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in CyberQuad 318. SMRT is a web-based application for viewing financial information in state-appropriated accounts. Authorized individuals are encouraged to use the SMRT application to monitor account resources and expenditures throughout the year. This training is appropriate for department chairs or directors and designated assistants.

Individuals interested in the training must be authorized for account access at least two weeks before the training date. Authorization for the SMRT application is separate from all other account authorizations and must include approval of the primary account manager. Only one session of training is needed. Please contact the Budget Office, ext. 4312, with questions.

Caribbean Lecture Series Continues with Reena Goldthree

Reena Goldthree, assistant professor of African and African American studies at Dartmouth College, will present "Missionaries of Our Manhood: Race and Martial Masculinity in the British Caribbean, 1914–18" at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, in Classroom Building B118 as part of the Caribbean History and Culture Lecture Series.

Goldthree's talk is presented by the History and Social Studies Education Department along with Phi Alpha Theta, the School of Natural and Social Sciences, and the Faculty-Student Association.
