Tell Students: Eleventh-Hour Workshop - Organizing Essay Content

Final papers are due. Students may have good ideas for developing their topic, but they’re not sure how to organize those ideas into a coherent composition. Here’s the opportunity to learn how to outline this material into a presentable paper. Encourage students to attend the Eleventh-Hour Workshop “Organizing Essay Content,” presented by instructor-tutor Tom Renzi and sponsored by the Academic Skills Center of University College. The workshop is offered free to Buffalo State students.

'Make Your Mark' - Educational Exchange with the Faculty of Capital Normal University in Beijing, China

Make Your Mark, an exhibition of artwork from the fine arts faculty of Capital Normal University in Beijing, China, will be displayed in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery in Upton Hall from April 29 through May 4 as part of an educational exchange of artwork with the Fine Arts Department at Buffalo State. A reception will be held on Thursday, May 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Upton Hall lobby to celebrate the exchange. All are welcome!

Faculty will enter their spring 2012 grades using Banner. The grading window will open at 9:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, and close at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. In preparation, faculty are encouraged to log on to Banner to be sure that all of their courses are listed under their account. Detailed documentation for entering grades is available at http://buffalostate.edu/banner/documents/grading.pdf. Arthur O. Eve EOP Honors Convocation Celebration

The Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program celebrates the exemplary academic performance of its outstanding students at the annual EOP Honors Convocation celebration in Rockwell Hall Auditorium at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3. This year's theme is "Imagine, Believe, Achieve: Celebrating 45 Years of Intellectual and Creative Achievement.” Highlights of the program include the presentation of special awards to students, staff, and faculty. An EOP Distinguished Alumnus Award will be presented to David Rodriguez, ’90. Alumna Crystal D. Peoples-Stokes, ’74, ’02, New York State assemblywoman for the 141st District, will offer closing remarks. The campus community is invited to attend the program and catered reception to follow.

Book Signing with Ilya Grinberg: 'Red Phoenix Rising: The Soviet Air Force in World War II'

The Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore will host a book signing featuring Ilya Grinberg, professor of technology, on Thursday, May 3, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Grinberg's book, Red Phoenix Rising: The Soviet Air Force in World War II (University Press of Kansas, March 2012), received an outstanding review from the Washington Times. Please join us. Refreshments will be served.

Subway Coming to Buffalo State Food Court

The Buffalo State Food Court offers a variety of meal choices in one location and is home to several chains, including Salsarita's and Spot Coffee. Subway, another nationally recognized chain, will be opening for the fall 2012 semester and will replace the current Sub Generation. Subway at Buffalo State will operate the same as any off-campus Subway location, including promotions and pricing.
