Did you know that digital books from all publishers are available through your campus bookstore? Now more than ever, students are looking toward digital books to meet their textbook needs. Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore provides these texts (as well as new, used, and rental textbooks) in a manner convenient for our students. We even accept financial aid as a form of payment.

Electric Service Interruptions

Be advised that campus buildings will undergo brief, nighttime electric service interruptions to accommodate critical power panel maintenance. Interruptions will occur only once per building and last no longer than 30 minutes each, during the time period specified:

  • Friday, August 12, midnight to 7:00 a.m.: Campus West, Child Care Center, Classroom Building, Clinton Center, Houston Gym, Power Plant, Science Building, Sports Arena, and Upton Hall

Occupants are advised to power down computers and any other sensitive equipment prior to scheduled interruptions.

Questions may be referred to Campus Services at ext. 6111.

Mass of the Holy Spirit

Attention, all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters of Buffalo State College: Join the faith community of the Newman Center as we invoke God's blessing on the new academic year at the Annual Convocation and Mass of the Holy Spirit on Sunday, September 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall.

This year we will honor Deborah K. Renzi, M.S.W., coordinator of field education in the Social Work Department, and Thomas C. Renzi, Ph.D., coordinator of the Academic Skills Center, with the annual John Henry Cardinal Newman Award in recognition of their support of Catholic Campus Ministry. Alumni Wine Club Continues This Fall at the Melting Pot

The Buffalo State Alumni Association is proud to continue its "Uncorking the Possibilities" event series. Come to our next event Tuesday, September 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Melting Pot, 1 Galleria Drive in Cheektowaga, and "Explore the Wonders of French Wine." Our goal is to provide a series of educational wine pairings and combine it with a bimonthly networking event for alumni and friends. Menu is available below:

Power Interruption in Savage Theater and Communication Building: Saturday, August 6

In order to complete the installation of air conditioning systems, a temporary power interruption has been scheduled to take place in the Savage Theater and Communication Building from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6.

Faculty and staff should shut down all networked computers and miscellaneous equipment prior to this scheduled interruption. University Police will keep the building locked until power has been restored. Questions about this scheduled outage may be referred to Campus Services at ext. 6111.

Workshop: Determining Best Practices in Blended Learning

SUNY Center for Professional Development will be offering a workshop on Determining Best Practices in Blended Learning. They are offering a webinar on Tuesday, August 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. or face-to-face meeting on Monday, August 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Niagara County Community College. This workshop aims to bring faculty together to discuss best practices that have emerged from teaching online and how it  transforms their face-to-face teaching along with web-enhanced (presenting content) and hybrid (replacing face-to-face seat time).

Choose "Faculty - Experienced" and then complete the campus contact information. When choosing the workshop, place a check mark next to “WS 7: Webinar (August 23, 2011).” If you would like to attend at NCCC choose “8/15/11 1:00 p.m. WS7:Niagara” from the drop-down menu.
