Reduced Support for Desktop Printers

Posted:

Budget and supportability issues have caused us to recommend against the purchase of personal desktop printers for faculty and staff. Faculty/staff replacement funds are no longer used to purchase printers, and the use of shared network printers is recommended for all departments.

Departments that have a need to purchase personal printers for staff members may do so with department funds, but troubleshooting and repair of desktop printers will be conducted on a time-available basis, and calls to the Computing Help Desk for desktop-printer repair will be assigned low priority.
