The Anne Frank Project 2011 Featured Presenter: Carl Wilkens

Posted:

The Anne Frank Project is proud to welcome Carl Wilkens as one of our featured presenters at next week's conference. In addition to Wilkens's multiple presentations, we will premiere an original play based on his experiences as the only American who stayed in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide. I'm Not Leaving was created by Buffalo State Theater students under the direction of professor Joseph Price and will be presented in Warren Enters Theatre on Wednesday, September 14, at 8:00 p.m., followed by a discussion with Wilkens.

For a full schedule of AFP2011, visit www.theannefrankproject.com/2011.html.

More about Carl Wilkens:

Carl Wilkens, author of I’m Not Leaving, is the former head of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency International in Rwanda. In 1994, he was the only American who chose to remain in the country after the genocide began. Wilkens, who formed the organization World Outside My Shoes, has dedicated his life to sharing his genocide stories, “inspiring and equipping listeners to stand up to injustices.” He has been featured on Frontline, and his humanitarian work has been recognized with several awards, including the Dignitas Humana Award from Saint John’s School of Theology Seminary and a 2005 Medal of Valor from the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
