The Equity and Campus Diversity Office is pleased to announce the continuation of the campus’s Equity and Campus Diversity Minigrants. Consistent with Buffalo State’s mission, the minigrants provide financial assistance for projects, workshops, and activities that have institutional impact—strengthening the university’s inclusive excellence toward diversity as described by our mission statement, core values, and strategic plan.

It is an exciting time as we begin the fall semester of the 2012–2013 academic year. As we begin the new semester, it is important to remember that the Buffalo State policy on religious observances prohibits administering evaluative examinations on Rosh Hashanah (sundown Sunday, September 16, to sundown Tuesday, September 18, 2012); Yom Kippur (sundown Tuesday, September 25, to sundown Wednesday, September 26, 2012); Sukkoth (sundown Sunday, September 30, to sundown Tuesday, October 2, 2012); Shemini Atzereth (Monday, October 8, 2012); Simchat Torah (Tuesday, October 9, 2012); and Good Friday (March 29, 2013).

From the Vice President for Finance and Management
Faculty members teaching in Campus West, also known as Buckham Campus School (Banner abbreviation WEST), should enter the building through the west main doors along Rees Street, adjacent to the entrance of the Student Apartment Complex. All classrooms are located on the second floor of the A wing, which is the central hub of the building. A sign will be in place outdoors at this location to help students and faculty locate the entrance.

The College Senate Office thanks everyone who has submitted a Committee Interest Form for 2012–2013. The information has been forwarded to the chairs of the standing committees for their review. The chairs make all decisions regarding committee membership.

From the Chief of University Police
Buffalo State’s University Police Department, working with the Buffalo Fire Department, will conduct its annual fire safety training exercise for Residence Life staff and University Police student assistants on Tuesday, August 14, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Moore Complex.

For this exercise, you may see fire trucks along Iroquois Drive, police action, and actors portraying victims in the area of Moore Complex. Please do not be alarmed; this is a simulated event.
