Migration to the new version of KissFlow, the workflow system for curricular proposals, is complete. Individuals who use KissFlow should have received an email notification on how to log on and activate the account. Please be sure to check your Junk and Clutter folders if you have not received it.

The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the College Senate Curriculum Committee for fall 2021 review:

New Courses:
MUS 215 Caribbean Music and Cultures. A survey of history and current affairs in the Caribbean, using music as the specific lens through which to view the multifaceted cultures of this diverse region. Offered every semester, beginning fall 2022.

MUS 615 Piano Pedagogy for Children. Prerequisite: Acceptance into M.M.Ed. program. Theoretical and applied training for students wishing to develop effective piano teaching strategies for young children. Evaluation of various piano method series, developing healthy technique, hearing the score, error detection, lesson observation, resource development, and performance. Students must have access to keyboard and ability to video record themselves. Offered every other summer semester, beginning summer 2023.

Course Revision:
BIO 355 Survey of Microbiology. Prerequisite: BIO 100 or BIO 101 or BIO 111. Non-majors only. Morphology and physiology of microorganisms. General application to infectious disease, food science, and human microbiome. Importance of human gut microbiome and factors regulating diversity of human-associated microbes. Offered fall semester, beginning fall 2022.

DSA 688 Experiential Learning in Data Science and Analytics. Prerequisites: Graduate standing, instructor permission, and 3.0 minimum GPA. Internship and team project (a.k.a. professional labs). Internships acquaint students with specialized resources in industry. Professional labs allow students to apply skills to real-world challenges. Offered every semester, beginning spring 2023.

The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the College Senate Curriculum Committee for fall 2021 review:

New Course:
EXE 524 Sign Language for Students with Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Communication skills for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities or delays using functional sign language and other communication modalities. Overview of the nature and characteristics of ASD and the impact communication has on behavior, social-emotional development, and activities of daily living. Evidence-based assessments and interventions for communication and behavioral aspects of ASD. Offered spring semester, beginning spring 2023.

Course Revisions:
SWK 423 Interventive Methods. Prerequisites: Social work major; SWK 220, SWK 307, SWK 308, SWK 422, and SWK 301; minimum GPA of 2.5 in the major and overall. Focus on generalist social work practice behaviors and skills for evidence-based intervention with diverse populations across the lifecycle, and ethical guidelines for social work practice. Offered spring semester, beginning spring 2023.

SWK 493 Field Practicum I. Prerequisites: Social work major; SWK 317, SWK 320, SWK 423, and SWK 424; minimum GPA of 2.5 in the major and overall. Focus on integration and demonstration of practice behaviors and skills used for social work engagement and assessment. Includes social work field practice supervision and evaluations that integrate and support all social work coursework and accompanying required social work field internship. Offered fall semester, beginning fall 2022.

SWK 494 Field Practicum II. Prerequisites: Social work major; SWK 419, SWK 493, and SWK 496; minimum GPA of 2.5 in the major and overall. Focus on integration and demonstration of practice behaviors and skills used for social work intervention. Includes social work field practice supervision and evaluations that integrate and support all social work coursework and accompanying required social work field internship. Offered spring semester, beginning spring 2023.
