EAP Sponsors Weight Watchers on Campus for Faculty, Staff, and Students

Posted:

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) sponsors a Weight Watchers At-Work program on Wednesdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 208. Come and meet our new leader, Jennifer Kiener. The program is open to faculty, staff, and students.

Benefits of the At-Work program:

  • Flexibility – When you sign up for the monthly pass, you’ll get access to weekly at-work meetings, unlimited local meetings, plus eTools and their Internet weight-loss companion.

  • Convenience – Weight Watchers brings the meetings right to campus, so even the busiest person can still attend.

  • Daily motivation – Since a majority of our week is most likely spent at work or school, attending Weight Watchers on campus creates a great network for ongoing support and motivation.

  • Fee – Participants must register for a monthly pass costing $39.95/month, which is less expensive than the Weight Watchers Center. The monthly pass is payable by credit card, debit card, or PayPal.

For more information, please contact Gina Game, campus coordinator.

Are You Hiring Student Assistants for Fall 2014?

Posted:

The Career Development Center can list your student assistant positions on ORCA, our (free!) online job-posting site. Buffalo State students can access ORCA 24 hours a day to search for both on-campus and off-campus jobs. Advertising your positions on ORCA is a great way to let students know about your job openings and how they should apply.

You can post and manage your own openings on our website by creating an employer account on ORCA. To list a position with us, simply e-mail askcdc@buffalostate.edu.

New this year: work-study jobs will be posted on ORCA! Students will be able to look for both work-study and non-work-study jobs in one place thanks to a collaboration between the CDC and the Financial Aid Office.

If you have any questions about posting positions on ORCA, please contact the CDC.

Personal Vehicle Mileage

Posted:

In accordance with New York State policy, Buffalo State’s Travel Services Department is required to ensure that travelers use the most cost-efficient means of travel when traveling on official college business.

Please note that in many cases, use of a personal vehicle may not be the most cost-efficient means of travel. Personal vehicle mileage rates are reimbursed to the traveler at the IRS mileage rate. Personal vehicles are often used for close-proximity trips. Under campus policy, it is allowable to use a personal vehicle if the travel destination is within 300 miles one way.

If a personal vehicle is used for destinations over 300 miles, please compare estimates to determine the most cost-efficient means of transportation for your trip. Please provide the Travel Services Department with your research documentation.

Personal mileage for trips over 300 miles will be based on the most cost-efficient method of travel.

Please visit the Travel Services website for complete policies concerning personal vehicle travel.
