Position Announcement: Secretary to the Vice President for Student Affairs

The vice president for student affairs is conducting a search to fill the position of secretary 2, which serves as the vice president’s secretary. This is a noncompetitive civil service position for which no civil service exam is required. Applications will be accepted until the close of business Thursday, April 7. Book Signing: 'The Career-Minded Student' - March 31

Buffalo State EOP counselor Neil O'Donnell will sign copies of his book The Career-Minded Student on Thursday, March 31, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore.

The Career-Minded Student provides undergraduates with a complete tool kit for excelling in classes, researching their strengths and interests, finding a suitable major, and preparing to compete for jobs immediately after graduating from college. Refreshments will be served.

Become a Service-Learning Faculty Fellow

Are you interested in integrating service learning in your courses but aren't sure where to start? Join the 80-plus Buffalo State faculty members who have become service-learning faculty fellows with the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC). 

Faculty fellows must commit to attending a two-day training conducted by national experts on Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, May 26. Fellows acquire an in-depth understanding of service-learning pedagogy and are then supported through the process of converting an existing course or creating a new course that incorporates service learning.

Details and application materials can be found on the VSLC website. The application deadline is Friday, April 25. Please contact Gary Welborn, faculty coordinator for service learning, or Laura Hill Rao, VSLC coordinator, with questions.

Tell Students: Rec-a-Thon Event - April 1

The Student Life Office, the African American Student Organization (AASO), and Recreation and Intramurals will present Rec-a-Thon on Friday, April 1, from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. in the Houston Gym.

Tell Students: Salamanca Night - Tonight

The International Education Office will host Salamanca Night with Raul Neira, associate professor of modern and classical languages, today, March 29, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Butler Library 208.

Professor Neira will share details of the Programa de Estudios Hispanicos, a summer program that offers participants the opportunity to sample Spain's historical and artistic treasures and to earn 6 undergraduate credits in Spanish language and culture at the University of Salamanca, Spain's oldest university. By staying with a Spanish family, students strengthen their language skills and experience Spanish culture firsthand.

Come and learn more about this exciting opportunity to study abroad in Spain this summer. Refreshments will be served.
