Two at-large College Senate positions will become vacant on August 28, 2017.  Additionally, one University Faculty senator position and one University Faculty senator alternate position will become vacant on August 28, 2017. Positions are open to both academics and professionals.

At-large senators represent the entirety of the college. The University Faculty senator is a senator within both the College Senate at Buffalo State and the SUNY University Faculty Senate. The alternate attends SUNY University Faculty Senate meetings only in the absence of the University Faculty senator. All full-time faculty and professional employees (PSC) are eligible run for these seats provided they meet other eligibility requirements (see below).

A call for nominations and information about candidates’ statements can be found on the College Senate website. The call for nominations for all positions begins Monday, March 27, and continues through Friday, April 7, at 5:00 p.m. Elections for these positions will run from 12:10 a.m. Monday, April 17, to 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 28.

Eligibility: Current College Senate members who are completing two consecutive terms in their respective positions are not eligible for reelection. For additional information on eligibility requirements, please consult the College Senate bylaws.

Campaigning: The College Senate Elections and Bylaws Committee strongly discourages using college e-mail services for campaigning. Please limit campaigning to the candidate statement posted on the College Senate website (available to the college community Monday, April 10).

Please note: Individuals running for a senator position in another election may not also run for at-large senator or University Faculty senator positions while the other election is being conducted. If the other election concludes during the period when nominations for at-large or University Faculty senator are still being accepted, eligible individuals may self-nominate for either position.

If you are interested in being a candidate, please contact Vince Masci, assistant to the College Senate, 878-5139. We look forward to your participation in the vital process of campus governance.

Purchase Requisition Deadlines for the End of the Fiscal Year

Posted:

Please note: Purchase requisition deadline dates have been revised from those used in previous years. This is due to a change in fiscal year-end payment processing deadline dates that are requested by the SUNY Controller's Office. Please note the revised dates specified below.

Requisitions for supplies, materials, services, office supplies, and equipment from fiscal year 2016–2017 funds must be received in the Procurement Office by the close of business on the following dates:

Furniture orders (all)
Friday, March 31, 2017

Software orders
Monday, April 3, 2017

Office supply orders
Thursday, June 1, 2017

Food and beverage orders
Thursday June 1, 2017

All other orders requiring a purchase requisition
Monday, May 1, 2017

Important note regarding P-Cards: Procurement Card (P-Card) purchases will not be restricted during the time between the above cutoff dates and the end of the fiscal year. Departments may still use their P-Cards for authorized purchases during this time.

To make ordering at the end of the fiscal year a smooth process for everyone, please do your best to plan your ordering as far in advance as possible to make sure you have the goods and services you need before the cutoff dates. Submitting requisitions well before the cutoff dates will give Procurement Services the time it needs to place orders before the deadlines.

Important note: It is the responsibility of departments to ensure that all requisitions for fiscal year 2016–2017 are received in the Procurement Office by 4:00 p.m. on the above deadline dates. Requests received after the deadlines will be held until the start of the next fiscal year

Once again, end-of-fiscal-year deadlines do not relate to P-Card usage. You may continue to use your P-Card throughout this transition period with no interruptions. For P-Card questions or for information on how to obtain a P-Card, please contact Bonnie McKay, procurement and travel card administrator, 878-5504.

Please call Steve Olsen, assistant to the comptroller for procurement, at 878-4113 with questions.
