Buffalo State Students Travel to Chile

Posted:

Pixita del Prado Hill, professor in the Elementary Education and Reading Department, and Angela Patti, assistant professor, and Raquel Schmidt, associate professor, of the Exceptional Education Department, will travel to Santiago, Chile, this weekend along with nine Buffalo State students for the International Professional Development Schools (IPDS) Chile program. The students participating in this three-week travel and service-learning program are a combination of exceptional education, childhood education, and speech-language pathology majors. While in Chile, program participants will study the Spanish language in an immersion program, live with host families, conduct educational research, participate in field experience in Chilean schools, and engage in a variety of cultural activities. The IPDS Chile program was developed by Dr. del Prado Hill and is founded on a strong relationship and exchange between Buffalo State and Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, from which the Buffalo State community hosted visitors in January 2017. Please wish this year’s IPDS travelers well and follow their travel blogs at buffalostateipdschile.weebly.com.
