Community Emergency Response Team: Meet and Greet - July 19

The Buffalo State Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) invites the campus to a "Meet and Greet" on Friday, July 19, at 9:00 a.m. in Technology Building 160. Please stop by to say hello and learn more about our volunteer training. The CERT program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may affect their areas and trains them in basic disaster response skills. We hope to see you there and that you will consider joining our team. Coffee and donuts will be served. Bring a friend!

College Senate Standing Committee Interest Form Now Available

The College Senate Standing Committee Interest Form (doc) is now posted on the College Senate home page for faculty and staff members who are interested in serving on one or more of the eight College Senate standing committees for 2019–2020. The form will be available through Thursday, August 1. The deadline for submissions this year is Friday, August 9.

The forms will enable committee chairs to review a collective list of interested individuals and assemble their committees in accordance with the College Senate bylaws. Committee membership is determined solely at the discretion of committee chairs. Not all committees may need members. Please submit forms by campus mail or e-mail to Vincent Masci, assistant to the College Senate, Cleveland Hall 211. Please contact the Senate Office with questions by e-mail or phone at 878-5139.

Bengals Dare to Care Day Needs Faculty and Staff Project Leaders

Bengals Dare to Care Day 2019 will be held on Saturday, September 21, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and we need your help! There will be 30 to 35 community service projects throughout the city of Buffalo, and each project needs a site coordinator to assist with logistics. Please consider signing up for this critical role in the campus’s day of service.  

Your responsibilities will include signing students into your project, greeting and communicating with your community partner upon arriving at the project site, keeping your volunteers motivated and safe, facilitating a reflection discussion after the project is complete, and being a point of contact with the Civic and Community Engagement Office throughout the morning. In return, you will get to know a great group of community-minded students, meet incredible community members doing great work throughout our city, and receive a delicious lunch when you return.

Site coordinator volunteers must be available for one of the following training dates:

  • Tuesday, September 17, 12:15–1:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 18, 6:00–7:00 p.m.

General Search: Staff Assistant 2 - Office Manager: Buffalo State Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic

The Speech-Language Pathology Department is seeking a full-time, 12-month office manager for the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, located in Caudell Hall. General duties include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the clinic, providing administrative support to the clinic director and graduate student clinicians, scheduling clients, and managing billing. 2019-2020 Parking Permits Now Available Online

Faculty and staff parking permit stickers for the 2019–2020 academic year are available to purchase online beginning today, July 8. Employees must log on to the system with their campus usernames and passwords. Permits can be sent via U.S. mail to employees' address of record or picked up in the Parking Services Office, Chase Hall 126. A valid photo ID must be shown when picking up a parking permit.

Staff members who do not have a campus username and password may apply for their parking permits in person in the Parking Services Office. Permits are not available from Student Accounts.

University Police will begin ticketing for No Permit violations beginning Tuesday, September 3. If you have elected to have your permit mailed to you and have not yet received it by this date, please stop at University Police or Parking Services to obtain a temporary permit for the day.

EOP Receives Summer Food Service Program Grant

The Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program at Buffalo State has again received a Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) grant, this year for the class of 2022. Jude Jayatilleke, senior academic adviser, with assistance from Jessica Berg, interim director of pre-award and contract services in the Sponsored Programs Office, applied for and secured the grant (formerly known as the USDA Grant), sponsored by the State Education Department for up to $49,831. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.

SFSP is a federally funded state-administered program that reimburses providers who serve healthful meals to children and teens ages 18 and under in low-income areas at no charge primarily during the summer months when school is not in session.
