TIAA Teleconference Financial Consultations Available

TIAA financial representative Michael Spogli will be available for personal financial consultations with Buffalo State College faculty and staff members via telephone on Thursday, December 10, and Thursday, December 24. 

This is an opportunity to review your retirement goals, ensure you are saving enough, and manage your investments. If you have never met with a financial adviser, this is a great opportunity to get acquainted and get help planning for a more secure financial future.

Toys for Tots

The Buffalo State College men’s soccer program has partnered with Toys for Tots to collect toy donations for less-fortunate children in the greater Buffalo area. To make a donation (or for more information), please contact Francesco Cardillo, head men's soccer coach, 878-6631, to arrange a pickup time and location. The campaign will run through Tuesday, December 15. All toys, big and small, are gratefully accepted. Happy holidays!

Please join us for a presentation by Cheryl Bracken, Ph.D., the fourth finalist for the position of dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, on Wednesday, December 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom videoconference. Dr. Bracken’s presentation, “Dr. Cheryl Bracken’s Vision for the School of Arts and Sciences,” will last 15 minutes and be followed by a question-and-answer period. The campus community will be asked to provide feedback on Dr. Bracken’s appropriateness for the position of dean of arts and sciences using a Qualtrics survey that will be open Thursday and Friday, December 10 and 11.

Information Security Awareness: Social Media and Your Money

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continues to warn us about clicking on ads and making purchases through social media. When you see an advertisement while perusing Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or any other website, don’t click on the advertisement. If you are interested in the product, open another browser window, search for the company or product, and check it out without clicking on the advertisement. Use your skills to check the URL and vet the site to ensure it is legitimate before buying.

Ready up and relax for finals during our free virtual Bengal Study Nights on Wednesday, December 9, and Thursday, December 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

We'll have final exam reviews, tutoring, yoga, mindful meditation, relaxation activities, games and "Feasting with Furry Friends" (show off your pet, snack, chat, laugh).

Free and open to all students, staff, and faculty.

The NYS Employee Assistance Program continues to host the very popular WellNYS Daily To-Do e-mail. This program sends a daily e-mail with a tip that encourages a healthful behavior. Sign up to receive the WellNYS Daily To-Do e-mail every morning.

The WellNYS Everyday Monthly Challenge Program is another option that promotes practicing a healthful behavior for 20 days out of the month, which hopefully develops into a habit. Sign up for the WellNYS Everyday Monthly Challenge Program.

Register for a Focus Group to Inform Strategic Planning: Campus Culture, Employee Engagement and Satisfaction Survey Feedback

The President’s Institutional Innovation Advisory Council (IIAC) invites faculty and staff members to provide feedback on the Campus Culture and Employee Engagement and Satisfaction Survey results that were shared via the Daily Bulletin on Monday, November 16. The focus groups will provide a forum to gather additional ideas and input from the campus community to inform focus areas in the next strategic plan. More specifically, the IIAC is interested in connecting with faculty and staff members to learn more about the many ways our work environment and culture have shifted, what has stayed the same since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ideas for what Buffalo State College should focus on in the strategic plan being created during the spring 2021 semester.
