Tell Students: Internship Opportunity

Posted:

The Continuing Professional Studies Office (CPS) is looking for graduate interns or high-achieving undergraduate students who are interested in an unpaid summer internship working with high school students participating in a summer bridge program on the Buffalo State campus.

The summer bridge program is a partnership between CPS and the Charter School for Applied Technologies and will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from July 11 to August 18. High school students will take a UNC course and have built-in study time as well as time for weekly workshops. CPS will support students both academically and non-academically by providing them with tutoring, mentoring, advisement, and help with strengthening their non-cognitive skills.

CPS is seeking interns who are interested in working closely with students to help ensure their academic and personal success during their college experience. Interns will help students navigate their day on campus, attend class with them, and help facilitate and manage lab time and workshops. Schedules would be about 15 hours a week. If you know a student who is interested, please have them email a résumé and cover letter to Tristin J. Salter, academic coordinator in Continuing Professional Studies.

Reminder: Upcoming Technology Changes

Posted:

Two educational technologies will be changing in the coming months and may require actions on your part to ensure a smooth transition:

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (web conferencing): Contract ends June 30, 2022

When the SUNY contract with Blackboard Inc. ends, this will include Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, the web conferencing and recording component. While Blackboard Learn (LMS) will still be available until January 2023, Blackboard Collaborate will be unavailable for use after the spring 2022 semester. We recommend using an alternative for any summer 2022 courses and beyond.

Ensemble Video: Acquired by Panopto: Contract ends June 30, 2022.

Ensemble Video was acquired by Panopto in April 2021. SUNY ITEC is currently in conversation with Panopto about a seamless transition to the new platform. Before the transition, please delete or archive any videos that are no longer in use to reduce the number of videos that need to be migrated and help save on storage costs with Panopto.

Be sure to monitor campus communications (email and Daily Bulletin) about future workshop opportunities on the new media server.
