Rees Street Closure at Lot G-24: June 24-July 3

Posted:

Rees Street will be closed from Monday, June 24, to Wednesday, July 3, for the installation of a fiber optic duct bank, part of the ongoing project at Karner Hall, formerly known as Building 50. During this period, we recommend using Grant Street as an alternative route to access the Sports Arena and the Student Apartment Complex.

The closure of Rees Street is necessary to establish a reliable Internet connection between the campus and Karner Hall. Upon its completion in winter 2024-2025, Karner Hall will serve as the new location for Buffalo State University Police, Moving Services, Grounds Department, and Property Control.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to enhance our campus facilities for the benefit of the entire community.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring Available for Faculty and Staff

Posted:

The Weigel Health Center is offering ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to interested faculty and staff members throughout the summer.

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is a technique used to estimate true blood pressure over a 24-hour period. The monitor can be worn on a belt or in a pouch, but the blood pressure cuff must be worn on the participant's nondominant arm for a full 24 hours. The monitor is programmed to take readings every 30 minutes when the wearer is awake and every 60 minutes when the wearer is asleep. Some sleep disruption can be expected.

While wearing the cuff, participants must keep their arm relatively still each time the cuff is inflating. Participants are also unable to shower or exercise while wearing the monitor. At the end of testing, results are downloaded and printed for the participant. The readings are very reliable, accurate to within 5 mmHg of readings taken with a manual blood pressure cuff.

The Weigel Health Center is not responsible for treatment or follow-through on results but asks participants to follow up with their doctors accordingly. Weigel will not use the results of any tests performed for any purpose.

If you are interested in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, please call Julie Mondanaro, nurse practitioner in the Weigel Health Center, at (716) 878-6711. Please wear loose-fitting clothing the day of your appointment. The cuff will be placed on your nondominant arm.

New Microcredential Program Banner Codes, Procedures

Posted:

Banner codes for microcredential (MC) programs have been changed from Banner minor codes to Banner UG and GR certificate codes, effective fall 2024.

Departments must advise students to declare each MC program they want to complete using the new Microcredential Declaration Form (PDF, 4.25 MB), which is located on the Registrar's Office website under Forms and Services.

Departments no longer need to track completion of MC programs and notify the Registrar's Office.

New microcredential codes can be found on the Majors Active List (XLS), which is posted on the Registrar's Office website under Forms and Services.

If you have questions about these changes, please contact the Registrar's Office or your associate dean.
