JCPenney Suit-Up Event: February 24

Posted:

The Career Development Center (CDC) will sponsor the second annual JCPenney Suit-Up Event on Sunday, February 24, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Walden Galleria. JCPenney will open its doors to host Buffalo State students and alumni for a private shopping event, offering a 40 percent discount on men’s and women’s career dress apparel. This event will help students prepare for their job and internship interviews, as well as teach them about professional workplace attire.

We are encouraging advance registration to ensure that enough support is available for participants. Transportation will be provided for those who register in advance and indicate that they need transportation. The bus will depart campus from the front of the Towers (Tower Road), making stops at the Student Apartment Complex and Neuman Hall. Students and alumni may also travel directly to the store but are still encouraged to register in advance.

This year’s event is co-sponsored by the CDC, the Fashion and Textile Technology Department, the Professional Development Schools Consortium (PDS), and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

If you would like a CDC staff member to speak to your students briefly about professional dress in general or specifically about this event, please call the Career Development Center at 878-5811.

Restorative Justice and General Programming Student Survey

Posted:

Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) is working to develop a restorative justice (RJ) program that can be made available for students when they are referred for allegedly violating certain policies outlined in the Code of Conduct. RJ programs are used at colleges and universities nationwide to resolve student conflict and incidents. Institutions such as Skidmore College, Brown University, University of Florida, Siena College, University of Kentucky, University of Texas-El Paso, University of Michigan, and Canisius College all have RJ programs.

Students are invited to participate in a Restorative Justice and General Programming Survey. The survey will be delivered to students' Buffalo State e-mail accounts. SCCS staff members will also set up information kiosks in the Campbell Student Union lobby on February 6, 13, 14, 20, 21, 26, and 28 for students to complete the survey. Please encourage students to visit the kiosks on any of the dates listed above, download the link from their student e-mail, or visit the SCCS website to complete the survey. The survey will be available until Friday, March 1.

Please visit the Student Conduct and Community Standards website for more information about the Restorative Justice Center, scheduled to open in fall 2019.
