Registrar's Office: Updated Course Input and Course Schedule Change Notice Forms

The Course Input Form and Course Schedule Change Notice have been updated (as of October 30, 2013) to reflect Banner terminology and to include all SSASECT and master schedule input forms used in Banner. You will need to print and copy and then begin using these updated form effective immediately. All outdated forms should be discarded. These forms are now also available on the Registrar's Office home page under Faculty/Staff Registration Related Links toward the bottom of the page. All input and change requests must be done using these forms. We cannot accept e-mail or phone calls to make changes. All forms require the signature of the department chair and associate dean and should be faxed to our office at ext. 3419. Departments are responsible for making copies before sending to their associate dean's office. All master schedule and room scheduling inquiries should be directed to our general office number, ext. 4811, or e-mail REGOFC@buffalostate.edu.

Geography Awareness Week Community Roundtable Panel

As part of Geography Awareness Week, the Geography and Planning Department will host a community roundtable panel on Tuesday, November 19, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Classroom Building A209. This year’s Geography Awareness Week theme is focused on the exploration of the multicultural elements of Buffalo.

Panelists include Barrett Gordon and Zaw Win from the WASH Project at Westside Value Laundromat, a local outlet that offers a range of opportunities and community services for Buffalo’s refugee communities, including those from Burma, Thailand, and Nepal.

Ba Zan Lin, environmental justice outreach coordinator for the Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper, will discuss recent efforts to educate local immigrants of the potential dangers of subsistence fishing in our local waterways.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend.

This lecture is an integral part of a lecture series sponsored by the International Student Advisory Council.

Today: 14th Annual Faculty and Staff Research and Creativity Fall Forum

The 14th annual Faculty and Staff Research and Creativity Fall Forum is today, Thursday, October 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Interim President Cohen will offer welcoming remarks at 12:30 p.m. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

This is an excellent opportunity to network with other Buffalo State faculty and staff and identify common scholarly and creative interests that you may have.

Dietetics Annual Chili Sale

Once again, the junior students in the coordinated program in dietetics will host the annual Chili Sale on Tuesday, November 5, during Bengal Pause (12:15–1:00 p.m.) outside Caudell Hall. 

Your $5 purchase includes a bowl of chili (Buffalo chicken wing or vegetarian), choice of blue cheese or cheddar cheese, water or milk, cornbread, and fresh fruit. Decorated sugar cookies will also be available for $1 each. There will be an area in Caudell Hall where you can eat if you wish.

You may order in advance for on-campus delivery until noon today, November 1, at buffstatechilisale@gmail.com. When ordering, please specify the following: type of chili; blue cheese, cheddar cheese, or no cheese; type of beverage; and whether you wish to purchase a cookie(s).

All proceeds go the Snackpacks for Kids program, "Feeding hungry children right here in our own backyard."

Year of the Teacher Weekly Feature: The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic

The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, established in 1956 and located in Caudell Hall, is part of the Speech-Language Pathology Department. The clinic serves individuals of all ages with services provided by graduate students in training under the direct supervision of members of the department's faculty and staff. Services are available for articulation and phonological disorders, language impairments, aphasia, voice disorders, hearing disorders, fluency disorders, traumatic brain injury, and accent reduction. Treatment sessions are typically held twice a week for one hour.

All supervisors are licensed by New York State and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In addition to the Caudell Hall facility, the clinic operates programs in the Western New York community, including at St. Joseph University School, Elmwood Franklin School, Bornhava, and Aspire of Western New York.

We're listening! Buffalo State Information Services and Systems (ISAS), the office of the chief information officer (CIO), has launched TechQual+, a technology services satisfaction survey.

Please tell us how we're doing and take the TechQual+ survey now. The survey is open to all faculty, staff, and students. Links to the survey are available on the ANGEL and BlackBoard home pages, the E. H. Butler Library web page, the CTS web page, the ISAS/CIO web page, and the Banner web page. Paper copies of the survey may be completed by obtaining a copy through the E. H. Butler Library Help and Reference desks or the Disability Services Office.

TechQual+ Information Services and Systems (ISAS) Campus Technology Satisfaction Survey

Information Services and Systems (ISAS), the office of the chief information officer (CIO), is conducting the TechQual+ survey. The survey is similar to the LibQual survey and is open to all Buffalo State faculty, staff, and students. Please complete the survey and let us know how we are doing.

The survey opens Monday, November 4, and runs through Friday, November 15. Please take the survey and encourage your colleagues and students to take the survey as well. Your results will help us with strategic planning. All responses are anonymous.

Coats 4 Kids

Nanci Monaco's SPF 202 Child Development class is conducting six service projects this semester, collectively called "The Podolefsky Project" in honor of Dr. Podolesky and his emphasis on community. One includes helping with the Coats 4 Kids local drive. If you have a coat that your child has outgrown, please consider donating it to us. It will be cleaned by area cleaners donating their services and then distributed to local children in need. Please bring the coats to the Elementary Education and Reading Department on the second floor of Bacon Hall by noon Monday, November 4, or call ext. 3019 for a student to come to your office for pickup. Thank you!
