Referrals to Care Team and Counseling Center

Posted:

At this time of year, even as the semester and finals are ending, stressors on students can become overwhelming and unmanageable. At the end of the semester, during and after finals, especially if students learn they are failing, they are often distraught. Please make students aware that many academic concerns can be handled quickly by consulting with the associate deans and department heads, especially when they have worries about their academic or probation status.

You may notice behaviors that are of concern. Your assistance as trustworthy and caring faculty and staff members may be a potential resource for our students. Learn more about "How to Make a Referral" to the Counseling Center and see "Information for Faculty and Staff" on the Counseling Center website. Or call us at ext. 4436 if you have concerns about a student's behavior.

The Counseling Center is part of the Students of Concern Care Team. The team intervenes to provide support for students who raise concern about their potential for harm to themselves or others. The care team will assess the potential risk to personal and campus safety that might result from the actions of individual students, will connect students in need with appropriate resources, and will monitor compliance with required support plans. For more information, contact the Dean of Students Office or the Students of Concern Care Team.
