The International Student Advisory Council is pleased to invite the campus community to the lecture "Why Is It Important to Study Creativity?" by Jo Yudess, lecturer in the Center for Studies in Creativity, on Thursday, March 3, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Assembly Hall 1 of the Campbell Student Union.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Internet Explorer 11 Update Rescheduled for March 2

The update to Internet Explorer 11, originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 2. This update is being deployed because Microsoft has ended support for Internet Explorer 10, the current version installed on campus PCs. All faculty and staff computers will receive the upgrade; student lab devices will receive the upgrade at a later date (TBA). If you have any questions regarding these updates, please contact the Computing Help Desk, 878-4357.

Opiate Overdose Prevention Workshop (Narcan Training) - March 14

Weigel Health Promotions will host an Opiate Overdose workshop through Horizon Health Services on Monday, March 14, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 219.

Overdoses of prescription opiates and heroin are a serious concern in Western New York and the United States as a whole. Horizon Health Services offers training on use of the drug Narcan (naloxone) to reverse the effects of opiate overdose and give victims a chance at survival.

This workshop covers how to identify if a user is in active overdose, how to administer Narcan, and how to get victims the appropriate help they need. All program attendees will leave with a free Narcan kit.

Tell Students: SPCA Paws for Love Therapy Dogs - March 2

Weigel Health Promotions will host therapy dogs through the Erie County SPCA’s Paws for Love program on Wednesday, March 2, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union lobby and Fireside Lounge. Therapy dogs are a great way to relieve stress during some of the most intense parts of the semester. We encourage all of our Buffalo State community to stop by and say hello to our furry friends!

Planned Parenthood Presents Porntopia: March 2

Weigel Health Promotions will sponsor "Porntopia," a media-literacy-based sex education program presented by a speaker from Planned Parenthood, on Wednesday, March 2, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Butler Library 208. Created by Planned Parenthood, the Porntopia program provides tools to discuss pornography and integrate the discussion into other programming. Further, it details the problems faced when young adults perceive pornography to be realistic, including issues of consent. This event is open to everyone.

Interdisciplinary studies are an important avenue for helping students prepare for the rigors of the twenty-first-century economy. Join faculty members in a discussion about the ways and benefits of collaborating across disciplines to ensure that students' perspectives on critical issues are well informed and expansive.
